I just wanted to know what is the take of an average Pakistani civilian on possession of guns and fire arms.. :sniper: :guns:

Approximately how many people actually own guns(licensed or otherwise).. :guns: :guns:

Are firearms freely available if one wishes to acquire them.?

How do the possession of those actually affect the daily social structure in the country??

Just a curios question..! :pop: :pop:

civilians with political back grounds there is no limit , there are many with 100's and in few cases 1000's of armed men. Its open illegal gun market buying depends on how deep ones pocket is. For the affects read dawn , tribune and other websites

Never held one in my hand, never even seen one up close. Some years ago a friend showed me his tour pictures where they went to Dera with a French guy and they were shooting guns at the ground at some distance...that day I realized the pacifist in me was bigger than I knew because the mere sight of people taking pleasure out of the use of a weapon made me almost puke. But I guess the first experience at anything is always a little hard, maybe now I can even admire the engineering in a gun. I don't know if I'm an average Pakistani in the true representative sense, but I'd sure be if every one of us were an eccentric!

According to a report there r 2.5 crore liscenced weapons in Pakistan....

And crores without.... u can find rpg, hmgs, stingers n even APCs(the confiscated 1 in some agency) owned by civilians.

And do those ppl with firearms wield them in public places??? As in without much restrictions??? I personally dont think it will be like that in cities at-least... But be it anywhere, that's some sight... :coffee:

I myself have never seen any till now... Have seen gunshot wounds in the emergency though...!! :smokin:

Am a shatriya and my family owns a lot of gun all male members have 3 guns
a pistol
a rifle
n a shotgun
though am not a pkistani but i take alot of pride of the firearms owned by my family

The total number of Private Gun owners in Pakistan does not exceed 2 crore even and you are mentioning here that 2.5crores are only licensed gun owners such a pathetic claim 2.5 crore firearms are supposed to be owned by whole of Pakistan..... military and Police combined.

Here are the facts which have Busted your bogus claims.

1. The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in Pakistan is 18,000,000
2. The rate of private gun ownership in Pakistan is 11.6 firearms per 100 people
3. In a comparison of the number of privately owned guns in 178 countries, Pakistan ranks at No. 6
4. In a comparison of the rate of private gun ownership in 179 countries, Pakistan ranks at No. 57
5. The number of licensed gun owners in Pakistan is reported to be 7,000,000
6. The rate of licensed firearm owners in Pakistan is 4.37 per 100 people

Here the figures related to Military and Government firearms.

1. The defence forces of Pakistan are reported to have 2,922,500 firearms
2. Police in Pakistan are reported to have 418,871 firearms

Even Pakistani Members with some brain would laugh at the dubious aswell as ridiculous claims made by you.

Now sod off my south indian frnd...

I can understand what media there feeds you guys with..... BTW who told you I am south Indian..... only been to Bangalore once and could not stay there for more than 3 days..... does my username DARKY make you reach this conclusion ??

Never mind thats expected of you.

And what are you going to do with a dozen weapons you've got only two hands

P.S. There's a popular culture in my Village the man seen with a gun is the most pathetic and scared person..... and people feel pity about him.... the more guns a person owns the more we feel pathetic about his state...... even a 10 year old kid can assemble an AK in my Village.

I never held a gun, never seen one up close, and never had one either. The only gun i had seen up close was the one my dad's cousin had gotten converted into a wall decoration. I really see no reason why people should have big automatic assault rifles, a pistol should be enough to keep and threat at bay.
