A relentless effort by PA, looks like operation will continue till good portion of next summers. With every passing day, it becomes harder to find bodies of shuhada cause melting may have stopped or gone minimum and next few weeks or days snow will start piling up. Best of luck PA

Gayari operation symbolises Army’s determination BODIES of three more soldiers who were buried live under an avalanche in the Gayari Sector of Siachen Glacier were recovered here on Friday after hectic efforts of six months. It may be mentioned here that 139 soldiers including some civilians of 6 Northern Light Infantry Battalion came under a huge snow slide on April 07, 2012 in Gayari and out of them bodies of 97 martyrs have been recovered so far while search for 42 others is still in progress. This is indeed miraculous and speaks volumes about determination of Pakistan Army to honour its martyrs. Despite cold weather and difficulties rescue teams are working day and night to dig out the bodies under the avalanche creating a new history of commitment and determination. Pakistan Army is doing this despite expectations that the tragedy would be accepted as fait accompli because it was almost next to impossible to go deep as far as over hundred feet of icy debris. It is pertinent to mention that in the initial days some teams of friendly countries reached at the spot and tried to help in rescue operation but realising the gravity of the challenge they left for their countries leaving Pakistan Army alone in the field to brave the risks. There were trying circumstances in both seasons — in summer melting snow created problems for diggers while in winter more rain and snow falls making it all the more difficult to carry on the mission. However, Pakistan Army has not disappointed heirs of those who embraced martyrdom as their bodies are gradually being recovered and handed over to the families. Anyhow, the Gayari tragedy brought to fore the need to resolve this dispute that has forced Pakistan and India to fight one of the longest and most treacherous wars on the earth. Regrettably, Indians are not willing to listen to voices of reason and their attitude could add more tragedies to the long list of trial and tribulation that forces of both countries are facing at Glacier.

The weather have turned harsh. The winter season have already hit that area.
They may have to stop ALL activities there but surely will resume next year if they do stop now!

May Allah bless the souls of departed and Give courage to the families who suffered in this tragedy.
The resolve of rescue workers is more than one can praise in words. My prayers are with them, entire nations are!

They said if they had to move the mountains they will to fin the bodies, and they did that..

I still remember ojhri camp when Islamabad and Rawalpindi were littered with bombs, missilesprojectiles, rockets and artillery shells..
American companies surveyed the situation and declared near impossible to clear up..
But PA men picket up the ammunition with bare hands without any casuality...

People can keep spitting venom against our soldiers but feats like these which PA has done, simply puts them on top of the list of a daring, dedicated and professional army...

That reaches the 100th mark.

Usually, such incidents are left as is and the persons are declared martyrs, and the place marked as tragic accident. No work is done, however Pakistan Army has done a good job in the recovery mission. Winter is just at the door step and the weather is going to turn bitter. I believe the work will carry on for a few days, then stopped when the harsh weather takes in.

i can only wish our media can make a documentary on this world class and unique effort by PA...

RIP. A soldier fighting for his country always deserves respect (even from an enemy).

Reminds me of Captain Kernal Sher Khan, Nishan-e-Haider. When the enemy was handing back the body, they also praised him a lot.
