Marking three years since APS Attack - The Darkest day in Pakistani History.
Army Public School was attacked three years ago by a group of seven terrorists, of whom none were Pakistani nationals. The attack began at around 10:30, the attackers entered the school through the back, entering after jumping a wall that was located on the boundary of the school and a cemetery. The attackers moved straight to the auditorium of the school, where there was a first-aid lesson being given by army officers. The attackers opened fire in the auditorium, panic arose among students and teachers who ran out to the school gardens through a door in the auditorium, only to be gunned down in the gardens where one attacker awaited for them.
The Special Service Group (SSG) of Pakistan Army responded to the school within 15 minutes of the first shots being fired, where they entered the school from the front and back with their armored vehicles eventually moving into the school building. The SSG engaged the terrorists, stopping them from engaging more students, teacher and other members of staff. One of the attackers was shot in the auditorium whilst the others managed to move into the administration block, taking hostages on their way.
SSG Commandos then had to reposition them selves in the administration block, in the meantime sharpshooter snipers moved in and took out 3 of the attackers through head shots through the windows of the administration block. DG ISPR (at the time) General Asim Bajwa said that the attackers were in contact with their leaders in Afghanistan.
None of the attackers were Pakistani nationals.
To this day I get chills when I talk about APS, the auditorium of APS probably marks the darkest time in Pakistan's history. 16 December - APS not forgotten.
They were once our future. Now we must work together to have terror free future for Pakistan.
