"Are French firefighters going to war?"

Due to the terror threat the Manche's departemental fire services (like several others) are preparing themselves and are supplying their members with plate carriers and ballistic helmets.

Like the Gendarmes and police officers,the firefighters are among the first to intervene in case of a terror attack. They can be asked to evacuate victims in a zone that was cleaned by the security forces or under their protection.
The new threats require them to adapt,the reason the Manche's departemental fire service is being supplied with plate carriers and helmets which weigh 10kg and 3,5kg for the helmet,which is also equipped with a heavy glass shield,similar to those delivered to the security forces.
All the departemental fire services of France are going to receive several protection kits.
Several exercices are held with security forces in the departement. These are an additional protection but the personnels' missions don't really change..... but the volunteer and professional firefighters understood that they had to adapt.
There are 47 fire stations,2.035 volunteers and 285 professional firefighters in the departement of the Manche.

Will they receive basic Arm training too ?

Seeing how things are going,they are probably soon going to be supplied with assault rifles.

That's good, I hope your country's security improves and terrorist incidents similar to Charlie Hebdo and the Bataclan massacre never occur again.

well i think they should , based on recent attacks in France Specifically any first respondents must be well equipped and armed, terrorist are evolving and so their ways of attacking ..Firefighters need to have at least basic armed training just in case ..

well i think they should , based on recent attacks in France Specifically any first respondents must be well equipped and armed, terrorist are evolving and so their ways of attacking ..Firefighters need to have at least basic armed training just in case ..

The firefighters would always work under the protection of other security services (Police,Gendarmerie) and the special operation forces. They are never going to be sent alone in a zone that isn't under control and without any protection.

First responders of the Gendarmerie and Police Nationale are being supplied with heavy equipments such as assault rifles,ballistic helmets,plate carriers and protective shields to cope with a terror attack situation the time specialized groups reach the scene. Their size are being increased and are creating branches all over the country. The goal is to give an armed response within 20 minutes anywhere in the country.

I really hate ISIS but ISIS and Russia have made sure that Europe slowly comes out of there delusion of peaceful world and prepare there forces for it. I really find it funny when some one says that un armed Police

There was a candidate in the French presidential election that wanted to strip the Police of all its lethal and non-lethal equipments.
There was a TV debate and on the moment he said we have to disarm the Police.... a terrorist attacked a group of Police officers,killing one and injuring others in the Champs-Élysées. He was neutralized after the Police returned fire. The same candidate then said if the Police was unarmed,terrorists wouldn't probably attack them.... no comment.
