Rewards for Justice – Reward Offer for Information on the Murder of Avijit Roy and Attack on Rafida Bonya Ahmed
MEDIA NOTE
OFFICE OF THE SPOKESPERSON
DECEMBER 20, 2021

The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, through its Rewards for Justice (RFJ) office, is offering a reward for information on the terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh that left U.S. citizen Avijit Roy dead and his wife, Rafida Bonya Ahmed, seriously injured.

The Secretary of State has authorized a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction in any country of anyone involved in the murder of Roy and the attack on Ahmed.
On February 26, 2015, Roy and Ahmed, both Bangladesh-born U.S. citizens, were visiting Dhaka to attend a book fair when they were attacked by assailants with machetes. Roy was killed and Ahmed survived with critical injuries.

This investigation remains open, and we are seeking information that will assist law enforcement agencies in bringing to justice the perpetrators of this heinous terrorist attack. A total of six individuals were charged, tried, and convicted in Bangladesh. Two of the convicted conspirators, Syed Ziaul Haque (aka Major Zia) and Akram Hussain were tried in absentia and remain at large.

Two related groups have claimed responsibility. Ansarullah Bangla Team, an al-Qa’ida-inspired terrorist group based in Bangladesh, claimed responsibility for the attack. Shortly thereafter, Asim Umar, the now-deceased leader of al-Qa’ida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), posted a widely circulated video claiming that AQIS followers were responsible for the attack on Roy and Ahmed.

In 2016, the Department of State designated AQIS as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist under Executive Order 13224, which provides authority to sanction terrorists and those who support terrorists or terrorist acts.

More information about this reward offer is located on the Rewards for Justice website at www.rewardsforjustice.net . Anyone with information on this incident should text RFJ via Signal, Telegram, or Whatsapp at +1 (202) 702-7843. All information will be kept strictly confidential.

The Rewards for Justice Program, administered by the Diplomatic Security Service, is an effective law enforcement tool. Since its inception in 1984, the program has paid in excess of $200 million to more than 100 people who provided actionable information that helped prevent terrorist attacks, bring terrorists to justice, and resolve threats to U.S. national security.

This man was dead long ago. I'm surprised that why USA was silent! Now shedding crocodile tears! :sarcastic:

Now, look how a wife is crying many years after the enforced kidnapping of her husband. What a country this BAL party has built! Hasina should be punished by hanging in the street light post. She must be punished for all these killings and disappearances.

I hope she does not run away to India on the day before the next election. Her RAB goons can no more help her win a midnight election by staffing the ballots in the vote boxes.

CTG will certainly be formed.

So perhaps Punditji didn't see that I have posted the same video in another thread! Anyway at least he saw it when posting here again. But punditji has good reputation of taking something that supports him and ignored other part of the video! Good job!

The people of Bangladesh and its military are waiting eagerly to punish Hasina Bibi, Mayor Taposh, Sk. Selim, Nanok, and others for conspiring to kill innocent 57 military officers in Pilkhana.

BAL party is just a bunch of goons and killers. The next election will be their graveyard. Ask why Sohel Taj is away from BD? He will be a witness in a BDR re-trial.

Hasina will be defeated . And I propose the name of Punditji @bluesky as the next prime minister of Bangladesh! :omghaha:
