What's new

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

Baykar's new challenge begins. But this is something else. When the KIZIL ELMA will be on skies, nothing will be the same in this geography anymore. The only thing that is emerging is not the aircraft itself, but a new doctrine is emerging and every system that creates this understanding is developed accordingly. A fully autonomous mission capable supersonic and super agile jet, next generation sensor fusion and awareness capabilities, ramjet propelled air-to-air missiles; and best of all, these aircrafts will act like wolfpacks and outnumber enemy manned jets every theater.

Anyway, it's a long journey. But not for its first flight, even block-1's entry into service will be surprisingly fast. Because this is not a project that starts from scratch, it is built on nearly 10 years of work and experience.

I bet, KE will make a formation flying over skies with the Qatar Rafale stationed in Konya within years. If this happens before the Greek air force announces full operational capability for Rafale's first proper/full squadron, I'd laugh much.

Why does the exhaust look so different compared to other turbofan aircraft?

Exhaust nozzle looks different and some tail components are missing. This is just a motor integration test. There is no finished aircraft yet. Each stage of Baykar's AKINCI program was shared with the press. If you look at the early stages of turboprop testing there, you'll see similar aproaches.

Problem is Greece can not cry to countries to not sell the engine 😆 .

SIMILAR PROCESS WITH AKINCI

A similar process took place in AKINCI UCAV which was developed by Baykar
AKINCI completed its first engine integration test on September 1, 2019
AKINCI successfully performed its first flight on December 6, 2019.
AKINCI entered the inventory on August 29 , 2021 ...1.5 years after its first flight.

KIZILELMA completed its first engine integration test on September 17, 2022
KIZILELMA will make first flight in the first quarter of 2023
KIZILELMA will enter service in 2025

Thats trust vectoring, this is a drone not a fighter. It do not need it.

The F-35 doesn't have thrust vectoring, the exhaust looks different even from the F-16.

I would like to remind you again that this is just an engine integration test and the engine block cavity is designed for much larger radius.

Great milestone, at the end of the day 500 hundreds of Kizilelma will cost as 45 F35.
Next year this "cheap" toy will made all 4 and 4.5 airplanes obsolete.

Oh well ... yes, it is undeniable a great achievement, but to say it "will made all 4 and 4.5 airplanes obsolete" is nothing but a ridiculous joke and even more already "next year"!

Anyway, here some more ...

Has the cost of the Kizilelma drone been published/indicated anywhere ?
