Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

You can't put a machine gun in a UAV flying out of range of Manpads. This aircraft was designed to launch cruise missiles or smart bombs. Not for machine guns or anti-aircraft guns.

An Akinci flying at just a few hundred meters to a kilometre high would escape most gunfire.. as for manpads, they are rare. But even if they were used who cares. Better than losing a helicopter.

If you need it, you can buy cheap A-10 from the United States and make them unmanned.

We should make a dedicated CAS drone.

It is not worth it in a geography where dynamics change day by day. Why spend these money for a plane that will not give us anything in terms of infrastructure? Like I said, if you need an emergency, you can buy used a10s.

Training and documentation , maintenance activities and doctrinization take years with these 40 years old monsters. Not to mention the supply and installation of hundreds of subsystems and components that are not included in the TAF logistics system by the way.

If you want work on current manned support platforms, i think HURKUŞ-C is the best platform for this.

Göksungur would be perfect.

Think about it. No one has an unmanned CAS aircraft. The time is now. We must think outside the box in order to be number one. We can't just continue to copy already existing military hardware. We need to make stuff that no one else makes.

Imagine if we made the Göksungur capable of flying off our LHD. If it had a gun capable of decimating ground targets it would be a formidable replacement for the F35-B. Of course it would carry missiles and bombs. But a fast firing large caliber gun would make it terrifying.

Like unmanned fighter (not striker/bomber) aircraft that can rival F-14 in terms of range and agility?

And aircraft with electric engine and stealth features would be good.
 
ORTADOĞU Technical University (METU) Department of Aerospace Engineering Professor. Dr. Yavuz Yaman and his team managed to make airplane wings compatible with tasks that can change shape for the first time in Turkey. TUBITAK project implemented in partnership with the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI), the airplane using a morphing wing system was successfully flown. Yaman stated that the planes would use less fuel for the same mission thanks to the morphing wings, thus both polluting nature less and providing a more economical flight.

There is a plan to replace existing wing design of ANKA Uav We might see this type of wing design on ANKA in near future,
 
jet powered akinci with a gau 12 :D
GAU and guns like it brings extreme structural stresses with it. If we want something like A10 we will need to build an entire new aircraft around gun.

UAV is extremly good for A10 like flights which has the pilot as biggest limitation. (Extreme G on loops of refire)
 
using gun for CAS missions is already obsolete, countries prefer SDB or brimstone like munitions for that role.
