Afghanistan will never recognise the Durand Line: Hamid Karzai

So do we, but as you can see the Afghans will never be satisfied until they have control of Khyber and FATA areas.

Imagine if Bangladesh one day claimed all of Eastern India up to Hyderabad, and worked with Pakistan to fund terrorists all over India. Do you think you would ever be able to secure peace? Imagine if you built them infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and offered trade deals only for them to remain hostile; How would you feel about them?
Instead of helping the people of Afghanistan directly, you have now caused a humanitarian crisis by sending all the refugees back into an unstable Afghanistan. This decisionis was not thought out carefully by the Pakistani leadership. This will further cause ethnic divide in Pakistan itself.
And you can't draw parallels with india, as such counter productive decisions will not be taken by the Indian govt.
Afghanistan has turned out to be another bad neighbour for Pakistan.

Oh my god!! That is a very tight slap on those who were claiming that China Didnt recognize McMohan Line but Afghanistan have recognized the Durand line. Such a shame!!
Afghanistan recognized the durand line. China never recognized the mcmohan line

be careful what you boast about! you are making your military real nervous. When it comes to real wars they have a bad history!

I heard youtube is banned in Pakistan, so try the dailymotion link. Najam Sethi (same guy who made Pakistan proud today by conducting the PSL final in Lahore) says quite clearly what you are capable of or not.

NAJAM Sethi is an Indian paid agent, SOB

Amid increasing tensions on the western border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, former Afghan president Hamid Karzai in a tweet on Sunday said Pakistan has "no legal authority to dictate terms on the Durand Line".

Karzai's comment followed Pakistan's decision to close the border between the two states for an indefinite period on February 16 after a recent surge in terrorist attacks across the country.

The border closure has strained Pak-Afghan relations.

"While we wish freedom for the people of [the Federally Administered Tribal Areas [Fata] from Frontier Crime Regulation [FCR] and other repressive measures, we remind the Government of Pakistan that Afghanistan hasn't and will not recognize the Durand line," Karzai added in his tweet.

Karzai seemed to echo the sentiment of many of his country's officials, such as Ambassador Omar Zakhilwalal, who in a Facebook post on Saturday said Pakistan does not have a valid reason for the continued closure of crossing points on the Pak-Afghan border.

Zakhilwal said the argument presented by Pakistan — that the border closure is intended to stop terrorists from crossing over — does not carry any weight, as “these points such as Torkham and Spin Boldak have been manned by hundreds of military and other security personnel” and have all the necessary equipment and infrastructure in place to prevent such a possibility.

"Continuous unreasonable closure of legal Pak-Afghan trade and transit routes cannot have any other explanation except to be aimed at hurting the common Afghan people," the envoy said in his social media post, apparently in breach of diplomatic protocol.

The Durand Line is the a 2640-kilometre-long border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, established in 1893 following an agreement between Sir Mortimer Durand, a representative of British India, and Abdur Rahman Khan, the Amir of Afghanistan.

Afghan national security advisor to meet Indian counterpart
Afghanistan National Security Advisor to President, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, left for India Sunday for a three-day-long official trip to attend the 19th Asian Security Conference titled 'Combating Terrorism: Evolving an Asian Response' being held in New Delhi, a press released issued from Afghanistan Office of National Security Council stated.

Apart from being the keynote speaker at the event, he will also have bilateral meetings with several Indian security and political officials such as his Indian counterpart, Dr Ajit Kumar Doval, the national security advisor to the prime minister of India.

Atmar will discuss counter terrorism measures as well as strategies to expand "political and security ties between two countries", the statement added.

The conference, organised by India's Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses (IDSA), begins on March 6 and concludes March 8.

1st part of news is a sign of high desperation among the masters of Karzai.
2nd part is interesting however ....2 terrorists going to discuss anti-terror measures in Delhi.

Who gives him a shit now ? why we even care and debate over his random tweets.

Absolutely

The chaps who cry about the 'sanctity' of the Durand Line have no shame in taking a completely inconsistent view on the McMahon line.

Durand line agreement was like any other colonial agreement - give a stipend to the native rule (Afghan emir in this case), get his agreement to conduct affairs only as per British interests, get some concessions on trade and finally rewrite the border. There's a ton of documentation apart from the rest of the treaty itself that showcases how Afghanistan was arm twisted into the deal - much like how China claims Tibet was arm twisted into the Simla agreement.

Ofc the only assymmetry is that Afghanistan was always inferior to pakistan militarily so except for not recognising it politically there's not much they can do about it.

People should at least have the honesty to take a consistent view.

There is another way as this is the issue of mainly Pashtuns going in and out of Afg /Pak ,Its time to do referendum what Pashtuns wants under UN as more than 70% Pashtuns are Pakistani`s its time to take our 30% back from Afghanistan ,perhaps this sanity will end this

They have been like this since 1947, Afghan refugees have been facilitators in many attacks. The logical solution is to send them back, and the majority of people support this move because the Afghans are constantly talking sh*t about us. If you think their recent moves are in response to something as minor as sending their refugees back, then you need to read up on the last 70 years of history.

This will further cause ethnic divide in Pakistan itself.

There is little ethnic divide in Pakistan, I know that your Massala News Networks have to spice everything up, but this is just an outright lie.

And you can't draw parallels with india, as such counter productive decisions will not be taken by the Indian govt.

Get your head out of your ***, India is string after string of policy disaster, I dont want to divert the topic but the fact that your people are obsessed with comparing yourselves with a country that is both 5 times smaller and engulfed in war speaks for itself.

Besides that, you clearly dont even understand the context of the situation, so you really shouldn't be commenting on this topic in the first place.

There is little ethnic divide in Pakistan
Screaming everything is OK will not actually make everything ok.
It's just like closing your eyes in the middle of the railway tracks thinking that the coming train will just vanish,.... be sure that it will hit you unless you take evasive action.

more like im standing a mile away from the track, and someone on another planet with binoculars is telling me that its about to hit me.

seriously, this forum is ethnically diverse, ask the people here, or go on twitter and ask actual ethnic minorities (not the Indian ones that retweet in Hindi)

I would ask what you're smoking but I know it's that good Indian media stuff.
There is not a lot of ethnic divide in Pakistan, it's just the media of some countries likes to twist the facts. Also, I'm sure your aware of ethnic tensions in India?
The Afghan governments likes to think of Afghanistan as the "homeland of the Pashtuns" and has tried to propagate ethnic tensions between Pashtuns and other ethnic groups in Pakistan since Pakistan's independence, so don't be surprised if there is some rebel activity.
