Terrorist attack on Peshawar Airstrip and loss of Innocent lives while they were offering their morning prayers will drench any human being's heart in sorrow.
The repetitive burning question rises again. Why are we not sealing Afghan-Pakistan Border for good and keep the savages away. They have been proudly chopping each others' heads for centuries and may keep on for eternity. We want peace and progress in our country.
Let me mention a less known research project in Pakistan which started in 2006 and got a Government funding of 3.9 Caror rupees.
The project was to develop Pakistan's own Ground surveillance radar. A radar capable of constantly monitoring surrounding area with high accuracy, while differentiating between clutter such as trees, buildings and anything that moves. Then further filtering targets into Humans, animals or vehicles. Also being able to track multiple targets simultaneously and able to be integrated into a TCP/IP based network. Further requirements for the project were to have low power consumption of less than 200 watts , having no moving parts as in a solid state system with antenna arrays and flexible algorithms or software which can be modified on the go according to use and requirements.
8 years of research and development later, Pakistani scientists developed such a radar.
The preliminary/Theoretical work was completed within an year with 20+ PHD students working on the project. The project was so successful that AESA and PESA technologies seemed conceivable within Pakistan's own expertise and resources.
International Microwave journal IEEE received and published dozens of research papers about Radar technology from the students working on this project. See project 274 on NUST website
NESCOM was given the task of further developing the AESA , PESA related research which branched out of this project. 300 Million USD were allocated for Pakistan's own dedicated Electronics R&D labs near Islamabad which had to be a subsidiary of NESCOM.
Unfortunately the labs never materialized in its desired form. Much of the funds dedicated for the lab were diverted to other civilian projects by PPP Prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
A toned down NESCOM Electronics complex was completed in 2012,but was again a victim of financial corruption and could not do any mlre than manufacturing Motherboards for NRTC's Software defined radios.

The research on further development and building of a prototype GSR continued at NUST/EME
The project was started in 2006 and named "national Radar" or NR.

Over the years 3 versions were built and tested and in 2014 the Final prototype NR-V3 was accepted for production by Pakistan's Ministry of Defense production.

The Radar's Exact specifications are still undisclosed, but a learned guess is that the Radar has the capability of detecting Humans at 4Km range and Vehicles at 12Km range with an average accuracy of 96%.
The biggest challenge in any Ground surveillance radar is to identify target among clutter or reflections of trees, buildings and other ground objects. This was probably the biggest research project and many research papers were written by Pakistani PHD students on this subject during the project.
The final Algorithms was very robust and with accuracy of 96% or more.
All the components, including Antenna, transmitters,Receivers,Filters and software were designed, built and tested in Pakistan.
It is yet to be seen when the Radar will enter mass production and deployment on strategically important locations for area surveillance.

One such radar can cover 10 Km area without the need of constant human supervision.
It can automatically raise alarm if it detects anything moving and works day and night in all weather.

250 such radars will cover the whole of the Af-Pak border, each and every inch of it will be under constant surveillance.. Will only need 100 Kilowatts of electricity.

So why are we not mass producing and deploying these radars we spent 8 years developing and is good to go?

Pakistan's own NR-V3 Ground surveillance Radar. Actual Picture.

Difficult due to the topography but a lot better job can be done. Start by kicking our all the Afghans, dont give visa's to any afghans, seal the border as best we can. GSR's, drones, posts. We need to produce a lot more drones though to patrol as well as target the terrorists across the border.

To secure Pak-Afghan border should be the first priority .Borders should be sealed just as they are sealed with India and other neighbour countries. Why Afghanistan should be an exceptional case?

barbed wire fencing and mines to effectively block 45 entry and exit points along the border. increase border security posts at these 45 points. in second stage fence other parts of the border. anyone trespasses fire first and ask questions later. these afghans are a bunch of ungrateful people.

there was no attack on Peshawar airstrip. badeber is a residential camp

There are only two options
Either seal/secure the border or pakistani army do military operation on other side of the border
Agee afghans are not trustworthy

Time for Zarb-e-Azb International!

TTP has regrouped inside A'Stan. We need hard kinetic action to destroy those bases inside that "country".

imo fencing such a long border would be very expensive . Also there are many Afghan refugees living in Pakistan, in million, they represent significant number, this may not go well with them. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan share strong cultural ties and have good people to people relations. Strong diplomatic relations with Afghanistan is a way to go forward. Good for both the nations

who give a damn when they always backstab us.

We've respected false Afghan sovereignty for long enough. Our citizens and men have paid with blood for this misconception. We need to take this NDS-Raw-Taliban nexus out for good. enough is enough

Motorways and Metro bus bring votes, fence don't. A politician would always chose Motorway and Metro bus over Fence.

If you wan't to see this happen, petition Raheel to conduct a coup.

No offence a "expert" on this forum was having non of it when I made some comments about some sort of obstruction like a wall/fence to prevent or slow down movement. Love to see what he has to say to you guys.

Please don't do this. Just a request. Please re consider this. Especially the KPK area...
