Afghanistan national army CAPITULIATION. US withdrawl

It's a lost two decades for the U.S. that they will never get back, and this also taught Russia and China what capabilities U.S. has and how to counter them.

In terms of weapons technology US is still "far ahead" - you know the difference when you hit by one and EVERYONE blames nature ... or termed the incident as "God's Will"...

Americans made sure to give bare minimum to ANA. Afghan Air Force now that's where the gravy lies for the Taliban.
The aircraft have been ridden hard and wont be serviceable without coalition logistical support. Younger pilots haven't been given enough training and older (soviet era) pilots form the bulk of the most competent pilots the AAF has.

A detailed video about the state of the Afghan Air Force in the Afghan Air Force Thread. the AAF will play a crucial role in the ANA response to the current state. an interesting video explaining how capable and limited the AAF really is. its from the end of 2019 by Australian Air Force Officers. well worth watching. highlighted some interesting parts.

P.s. There was some "news" in a recent Indian news program that they say they have heard (goes without saying to take that with a grain of salt) that Khalilzad spoke to Afghan Leadership in Kabul about entering into a "Bilateral Security Arrangement" with Pakistan. This could just be Indian mis-information to see how far this news spreads, so its something to watch and not spread until more information pans out. (from 21:00-21:26) but just an FYI on what the Indians are spreading.

Now if they work with Pakistan (on Pakistan’s terms as they have experience combating the threat), hopefully they can mitigate the risk in a sustainable manner

The Talibs took Kabul in 1996 without fighting, they may very well do the same now. It’s all Afghan inter-tribal/back channel politics that dictates these things more than anything else.

So they are already start hinting a second 9/11 ?

Hope not. it wont help gettign distracted again when the US has to focus on competing with China and Russia.

actually the video was to share his assessment that the place would go to $h1t if the Us pulls out, in approx. 6 months to a year.

he has to realize there has to be a more realistic and sustainable way to deal with the limited threat of groups like ISIS in the region, support the Local governments that are in the region to police their region. support Pakistan's CT capabilities. the US plans to work through African countries on countering ISIS in their region, why not work with Pakistan as it sees fit to deal with the threat.

Also, no matter who you work with, if Iran which controls a huge border with Afghanistan and if it doesn't want to stop AQ, no amount of CT force any where in the region will work. Pompeo said AQ's new home base was Iran. true or not, its futile when all the neighbors are not on board. a three sided house still leaves one side open, no matter how good the other three walls are.
