A plausible explanation for what may have happened to PIA flight 8303

Pilots forgot to lower the landing gear. The plane landed on its engines which severally damaged them. Pilots not assessing the severity of the situation went for the second go-round hoping for a neater landing (and to avoid further damage to plane). In mid-air they knew what had happened but it was too late. Both engines went off completely.

this could be the result of peer pressure that pushed the pilots to go for the second attempt. The grave mistake of not lowering the landing gear would have put their careers in danger. The second go-round was avoidable.

In the first landing the gear didn't open, that's the sound that tells you that the gear has problems but they tried to land anyway so they damaged both engines

what is the SOP in case the landing gear does not deploy ?

public trust on pia is greatly damaged and in future people will look for alternative airliners or prefer travelling by road within Pakistan
