Is decades old LCA Tejas a 4.5 generation fighter as claimed by IAF ?

FBW, BVR, Precision ground strike, IFR, partial composites & ECM
Both LCA MK1 and JF-17 Block-1&2 are 4 gen (Western definition)

HOBS, AESA, IRST, Advanced datalink and High TWR
Except supercruise both LCA MK2 and JF-17 Block-3 intended to have capabilities of 4.5 gen (Western definition).

Chinese definition is -1 so if 4th gen in west, it will be classified 3rd gen in China.

However neither of them are flying or operational right now so nothing more to discuss on 4+ gen status.
but the hard fact is tejas even in its MK1 format has more than 90% composites in its skin area and 40% in body weight, day and night combat capabilty , HMDS-HOBS combo , Litening G3 LDP & LGB combo, BVR capabilty which much matured platform JFT dont have even in its Blk 2 format so whose better as of now forget future

OK then why you people are dying to get Rafale...Bhai itna kuch tu uss mien b nahien hai.
cause LCA for light point defncewith very limited pauload & range we need a medium fighter for SEAD DEAD which has a better range and payload capacity & LCA cant do due to its range and design as it was designed to be a air interceptor with limited strike cabality while rafale from day one was designed as a first strike(SEAD/DEAD) missions which can take care of any other role aswell thats why the price difference

Hard facts :coffee: or quoting on paper stats.

Procurement: Indian Air Force Rejects Locally Built Fighter

Tejas Mark-I fails to meet IAF criteria, has 53 shortfalls: CAG

Eventually will be sorted out in next variant but till they are in operation can't call it matured.

look at the date of the article and no fighter jet is so called without any shortfalls but then you can twist it the way you like to boost your ego fact remains its a point defnce fighter to fill in numbers for Mig21&27 and its even in current form better than them in all aspects like combat radius , payload capacity, agility , latest avionics and radar and weapon systems

Check your spellings and post it again.
so thats the best answer you got after you brought rafale here when it was not required ... what was that fear or jealousy or both :haha:

Tejas is more than capable to perform the role its going to take in IAF structure, with RCS lowest in all the fielded fighters by IAF, weapon compatibility with Indian, western & russian systems, AESA and more powerful engine on horizon,
its going to be more than a match any fighter in the neighborhood.
thats what they dont want to aknowledge and keep repating the the same old CAG report forgetting what was done on it and what is the level of tejas now cause they are jealous of the fact that tejas even in its current form more potent than there future Blk3 and is more than twice as capable of the fighter its salted to replace in every aspect then there is MK1A with AESA radar and lighter body and possibally a IRST pod it will be a serous headace to there air force
