Again speculating on things which you never know how they could have have turned out. Sikkim did join the Indian Union by a popular vote incase you didn't know and they have no similarity to a tamil or a punjabi .

What else could sikkim have done? They had seen tibet and were not willing to risk this. They found india safer than being annexed by china. And btw look at the size and location of sikkim compared to like balochistan or punjab or bengal etc these states could easily run by themseleves sikkim could not

Atleast i can say that when the mughal empire was declining there were several new powers rising who had no aspirations for a united india as there was no such concept! The union concept was made by the british

Take punjabis and tamils then if there was no concept of a union and both were happily separate independent countries why on earth would they join each other? An EU type union might have been possible after fighting each other but a single state noo!!

And then we had sikhs and afghanis etc the marathas never got full control of india and if somehow they did even then revolt would have led to parts calling themselves independent this happened alot even during mughal times governors used to declare independence whenever they got the chance

West Punjabis see themselves connected to Arabs, Turk and Persians, so I know they can't live with Tamils but East Punjabis and Tamils are living together. Honestly, the Punjabis and Pashtuns share nothing in common except a common religion. Pashtun see themselves as conquerors and Punjabis as conquered people.

Yes, on what basis you dreamed Punjabi Hindus and Sikhs will live in your Islamic republic created exclusively for Muslims. Anyway, can you tell what a Punjabi or a Pashtun share in common. Many Pashtuns and Balochs says Punjabi and Sindhis are indian by race and only thing they share is a common religion.

I'm not the one who started the real and fake debate, the people of Indian subcontinent have been Indian for millennia even if there was no concept of nationalism back then we can still look back into the history and say our ancestors were Indian, while you were called Indian by the outside world till 1947 and suddenly took a new identity of Pakstani, hence the identity issues. The concept of nationalism and modern nation state is a rather new concept, atleast we had a common plank of our identity on which we could have envisaged a new nation, what would be of Pakistan had it not been for the British ?
