Yes, I know US can play the spoiler. But still it is worth discussing. The prospects may appeal to MRAF.

Yes Pakistan should look for Markets without any Nation looking for replacement or not that is how B.A.E/Dassault/Boeing/LM followed.

Another prospect is Jordanian Air Force for their F-5s, last we heard about Typhoon and funding from saudis but did not hear it any more. So I guess the main contender is F-16.

List of aircraft and armament of the Royal Moroccan Air Force - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Addition of chinese platform with chinese armaments would put burden on Moroccan AF resources in terms of training, compatibility with western aircrafts, purchasing extra munitions and two seaters, The time it would take to develop tactics on JF-17 , dealing with multiple vendors (Pakistan, China, Russia), Restrictions of keeping JF-17 and American fleet apart. T

Hence it is more likely they will go with used F-16's, which would not only be a cost effective solution but provide commonality to rest of the fleet

True.

MRAF would have to retire their F-5, Mirage F-1, and Alpha Jet fleet some time not in the distant future. That is 90 aircraft. Even if they do not go for 1-1 replacement, they would still likely be looking at purchasing 60+ combat aircraft. For the price of JF-17, they could get an MLUed F-16. This makes sense. However they would be dependent entirely upon USA, unlike now.

Another angle could be that Morroccans can use JF-17 bogey to improve their bargaining.

With a Chinese engine, FC-1 could be a good option.

Note below: American products again, too much US influence.

May 18/11: T-6Cs. The Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) has received the first 12 of 24 or all T-6C trainers from Hawker Beechcraft, to replace its existing fleet of T-34 and T-37 jet trainers. Arabian Aerospace

T-6C are for Advance Training.

The possibility of more F-16s up to a squadron strength is real and make sense. However they would still be looking for atleast one more squadron, I do not think so Morocco would invest in 3 Types for the next 2 decades, I think F-16s and F-1 would be serving and when it is time for F-1s to go they could go for F-35s possibly.

So, PAF is looking to buy more F-16s from Jordan? and I have heard that Jordan is facing serious financial issues so its better to sell of their F-16s to PAF and F-5s to Turkey and invest that money in R&D and proper Air Defence.

Not just from Jordan hopefully. Many Air forces will have F-16's up for grabs for the PAF in the near future. PAF seems to be doing with F-16's what it did with Mirages. I think now that we're seeing this happen, there might even be a chance our F-16's get some upgrades and tweaks in the future.

historically the moroccan armed forces are influence by the french and the US. so forget it. they will not look eastwards.

What is the prize of F-16 b52??

PL-12 air-to-air missile
According to Chinese internet military forums, there is the intention to retrofit the PL-12 AAM, long associated with the export JF-17 Thunder program, to PLAAF's own J-8II fleet -- Here is the first publicly released photo confirming the "domestication".

Beta jee.
When you have to tighten the same nuts while lying underneath a loose 500 kg bomb and have it land on your chest then you'll understand why these nuts have to be on the outside. In this case it is functionality before aesthetics.

They can be made smaller in size and with Lock-pins. He has a point.

Is Jordan and Yemen looking for JF-17s? Also heard before that PAC is offering Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain JF-17s and telling them they can get it on 1/4th of Western Jets in terms of cost.
They have been offering it to almost every country in the Middle East left right and centre as well as several African countries.
Whether the Russian engine is the problem, the Chinese avionics or are they just biased in favor of western systems or maybe all of the above?
Those with money don't care if they spend more on proven and better western systems. Those with less money can't make up their minds.

I think Like Jordan, Yemen and other ME countries should sell other equipment and buy Super Mushak, K-8s and JF-17s or join in these programs.

Like we have been hearing that UAE M-2000s might be coming to Pakistan and we can bring in Qatri's one for free if their Govt. will allow an exchange with 20 JF-17s for 12 M-2000s. Similarly 18 M-2000s can be bought from Egypt too.

So PAF would have:
68+ UAE
12+ Qatri
18 Egypt

About 100 M-2000s which they can use according to their own choice and can also buy spare for engine and airframes from S. America for cheap.

More over, PAC-CAC should again try to sell Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain along with all of the GCC and N.African countries their K-8s and JF-17s with license production.
