F-16, F-18 and F-20 designs were also studied to develop Gripen. Here are some pictures for you to study. Please search those jets studied for Gripen and find which one of those jets is similar to Gripen in weight and maximum takeoff weight.

To sum it ho for you bro, without trolling. JF17 is an indeginous design like TEJAS. and there is no such thing as "based on" in original designs. Yes fighters are INSPIRED from successful designs. JF17 is INSPIRED from F16(Judging from Wings configuration) and F18 (by air intake design).
And we have no experience with F5 and we are not stupid to develope a 4th gen fighter from a 3rd gen tech
and both these fighters are one of the best battle proven designs of modern airforce.
And it is compared to Gripen by Performance and Developement era not by design.

Its nothing like Tejas.

Yes Tejas is indengious because it was designed Built & Tested in india by indians.

But you calling JF17 indengious is a real SLAP IN THE FACE of Chengdu & China.

In my eyes something is indengious if you design Build & Test something in your country by your engineers.
This is not what i see in Thunder.

i WISH THE TEJAS was developed with a senior partner like russia/ Sweden from the outset . You guys got this part right

Ine thing common in all indians is they assume too much and they persist for no appearent reason.
I am not saying its Pakistani design. I am saying its chinese indeginous aircraft. ofcource with design help of russia. But you dont want to give uo defaming our thunder. and now you will dig something else out.
Ok mate i am done here.Chendu dig the JF17 from gobi desert deep inside a cave and it is not designed by chengdu. And it is not BVR capable it has no Turbofan engine, It cannot fore sidewinders and it cannot fire RAAD ALCM happy?
