  • Congratulations Joe. I see you have joined the black club :-). Very well deserved. Hope to see you around.

    Best,

    GUNNER.
Congratulations on your well deserved promotion to Military Professionals.

It's been a pleasure reading your posts and I look forward to your positive contribution to this forum in the future.
Thank you for introducing yourself Joe. Couple of TT told me about you and therefore i believe you deservedly needed the Professionals sign next to your name. Thank you for being part of us.
Dear Sir, Neither, actually. I'm an ex-Sainik School boy, who wanted to join the navy like his uncle, the first Indian aviator admiral, but failed the SSB exam because of poor eyesight, and didn't know what to do next. I worked in the defence sector for some years in a BAE joint venture with HAL, and got exposure of unexpected and sometimes unsettling sorts. My father was apart from his service work a reviewer for The Statesman of Calcutta, when that newspaper meant something, so we grew up with books on military matters. I read all the classics before I finished my degree course in history. Currently I have gone back to my history books and am taking great delight in refreshing my military history. My current reading is J. F. C. Fuller's Decisive Battles of the Western World, and I hope to catch up with other great classics soon. With respectful regards, 'Joe Shearer'
Hi Joe, Just on the subject of Jinnah, Khilafat et al.; check out "Mohammad Ali Jinnah-The Great Enigma" on Scribd; pp 5-8. May be you've already read it, it s part of the mosaic.
Joe, nice to know that. The Officer in question has other facets to him apart from the ones you mention ;-) i've met him and spoken with him quite some years ago, on the side-lines of a symposium where he was key-note speaker. While the conversation began on topic, it veered around to personalities; one of them being a member of 'the first 4 sea-eagles' who hailed from my family and some others who he had served under. The personality- Sharp, academic and intellectual mind; if i'm not mistaken still active (and visible some time ago).
I used to work for BAeHAL, and my successor, M. K. Govind, was the man who actually worked on the Anti-Skid Braking System of the LCA. Various other people in HAL had been deputed to the LCA project, and I had the pleasure of meeting them, or knowing them. Wg. Com. Dr. Ramchand of CABS was a friend, largely because he was gracious enough to be friendly with a newcomer like me. Air Cdre. Minocha was another personal friend.

    I miss those days.
Sir, it's a pleasure to read your posts. Especially the recent LCA Tejas ones. May I ask how you are so well informed on this topic?

please keep up the good work.
I guess the education system planned by their govt. to blame, making them completely ignorant of the ground reality.
