CPEC to create over 700000 direct jobs: expert

As long as you dont start any s..t with India. Basically the success of CPEC is in our hands.

???????????..That is one of the most retarded delusional comments ever. Even for Indian standards. It's just as ridiculous as saying that despite being the most scientifically & technologically advanced nation on earth, German technology depends on india.

The success of CPEC depends on Pakistan and China ALONE. The growing list of countries now joining CPEC are welcome but they will not decide the final outcome.

With the increasing billions China is spending on CPEC, with the increasing Chinese strategic assets being scattered all over Pakistan and with China set to become the world's first ever global hyperpower in the coming years, it's not a matter of "if" CPEC is a success & Pakistan becomes a developed nation but "when!"

The Government of Pakistan has give conservative figure of 0.7 million as many economics predicts indirect jobs over 2 million. We are currently building an Airport, sea port, industrial parks, warehouses, hospitals, technical institutes, over 3000 kilometres of Highways, 1800km of railways, 34 billion dollars of power projects, developing thar coal, infrastructure of railways in thar desert, water purification plants, hydro power projects and so on so forth.

I am sure if you start adding people the number of people directly involved will work out to be in hundreds of thousands

Sir, is there any idea of the number of jobs needed to reduce unemployment compared to these jobs that are estimated to be created over the next 15 years?

Sir 700,000 jobs are very low when you consider the nature of investment. Just a warehouse in Tilbury, UK has created 1500 direct jobs and 35,000 indirect jobs, more than 76,000 people work at London Heathrow Airport and has created more than million indirect jobs around the airport.

I am not obviously comparing London with Pakistan and obviously when a shopping centre in London creates 20,000 - 30,000 jobs, we don't have an infrastructure and middle class sector to absorb such an immense amount of investment over a mere shopping centre. The point is

Sir, you are dealing with China here, they are notorious for bringing in Chinese management and even low level workers into such projects.
I can quote you some African projects where the local population has protested against the use of foreign Chinese labour.
Is there any laws in place that can safe guard the jobs created in CPEC for the local population?
Can the local politicians be trusted to keep the interest of Pakistan first w.r.t their own pockets?

Dont be emotional.
China has progressed because it maintained peace on its borders for the last 30 years. You ppl always blame the militancy problems for decline in your countries lack of progress.
Why India does not retaliate overtly to terror attacks from Pakistan ? Because in the bigger picture , its a competitive world and other countries are quick to take advantage of any disturbance in another country to paint it a unattractive investment target.
Pakistan needs peace on its borders or investment gets frughtened away.

These would be direct jobs to maintain and operate the CPEC route. Then, there will be independent businesses, new cities along the route, supporting millions of trucks going back and forth (initially), and these new cities would be built around business districts not directly related to the CPEC but indirectly supporting it like Manufacturing, Packaging, Dry Ports, and later other businesses also.

These business districts would draw new investments of various kinds and population, which would live and work here. That means, many new airports, hospitals, universities, schools, doctor's offices, parks, resorts, hotels, food and grocery shops, banks, etc, etc, (same stuff you see in any city). So the actual estimate I read in a WB report was 5 million + (jobs+contractors+businesses like I mentioned above, including direct and indirect), by the end of 2030.

This doesn't take into account the fact that the CPEC would boost the internal economy and small business and large would naturally grow and would build there additional branch offices around this route to multiply their income. That's common sense and many billions worth of addition easy.

Yes... about 4.1 million jobs are required each year to contain unemployment. According to one report, it is possible to add 4.1 million jobs with gdp growth of over 7.5%

So, over 15 years, if this projection is to be believed, CPEC the game-changer is estimated to create 0.7 million jobs out of the total 61.5 million jobs needed to be created, or about 1.1%, of the total needed. One can only hope that the rest of the economy steps up to this formidable challenge. Hope is good.

Getting at least $55 billion investment from China with many more billions earmarked for investments in the coming years and decades seems good FDI to me. Must be doing something right if we are frightening them away :azn:

I think Pakistan can get their GDP above 1 Trillion Dollars in 10 years if politicians work honestly similar example is Indonesia Had 160$ Billion GDP in 2001 & currently they have GDP of nearly 950$ Billion

Wow some one is on Chinese payroll??? CPEC is like new identity of Pakistan... Now everything depends upon CPEC. National goal is CPEC National anthem is CPEC
