Pakistan Needs J-20 If It Wants To Stand A Chance

U r right these scenarios are imaginary and I doubt India would ever use full strength of its Air Force/Army solely against Pakistan in case of a war. India would always be wary of China and would refrain from leaving its borders with China unprotected and devote everything to fight Pakistan. This is actually one of the causes of massive Indian build up bcuz they are preparing based on a two front war scenario.

However even a limited number deployed against Pakistan would still be numerically superior and so Pakistan needs to still upgrade its Air Force.

I agree completely, the best scenario would be to have these multiple layered SAM systems and hundreds of JF17s in defensive role protecting air space over the entire country along with F16s as the tip of the spear(AWACS and ground based radars data linked with all these assets). All this just for defense and top it off with a few squadrons of twin engine fighter jets for some deep strike capability for offense when needed and the enemy will think twice before attacking.
It is easy to plan on starting a war but it is really impossible to predict the actual out come. If India losses its assets on this side it would indicate that they are going to lose their territory. When this issue arises then Air assets from other sides would be mobilized. Even if China does not directly gets involved with India to protect Pakistan still would provide financial and material support which would prolong the war. This is something India would not like because then it becomes very difficult to restrict her losses.

To over come these issues IAF has to increase its fighter fleet, this would take time and money. This can be achieved if India procures old aircraft, some thing IAF does not want. What they want is new aircraft with complete transfer of technology which would require infrastructure for manufacturing all the parts it requires. This is a very complicated and time consuming task.

Hi,

Modern EW suites and weapons and upgrades of frames and skins of aircraft are like VIAGRA to the old aircraft---.

It gives them a totally new life and vigor and strength---.

I hope you kids can relate to something to understand the scenario better.
Sir,
What ever upgrades are carried out on old aircraft design would still not make it as advance as a new aircraft. Sir Viagra also has limitations even if you mix it with other drugs it would not make one young again.

Structure strength would increase the life ...yes but it would not transform it to a next gen fighter bomber.

One can not compare Toyota Supra (modified) with a modified Mustang GT , both these cars are of a different league.

Pakistan is falling further and further behind against India for Air Superiority let alone Air Parity. It's only chance is to buy at least 36 J-20.

each J-20 will command & control 4 to 6 JF-17 blk 3, the J-20 will fly ahead and use it's stealth/sensors to find targets and relay this information to the JF-17, the JF-17 will launch their SD-10 and the J-20 will take control of these missiles via a two way data link.

36 J20 144/216 JF block 3

this would level the playing field.

I do not think so. Su 35 or Saab gripen would certainly have caused concern for India.

Isn't J20 banned from export!!?? That's the reason they're building 31

Yes it is and even if I can understand that some guys - similar to my small son, whenever we are in a toys-shop - always want the latest toys, but this is not for export, So I really don't understand why these completely useless threads are popping up from time to tome .. like mushrooms after a warm summer-rain.

China to speed up stealth fighter production, air force chief says
Comments by Ma Xiaotian appear aimed at dispelling concern J-20 is behind schedule

The PLA Air Force chief said development of the J-20 fighter jet would be sped up, in an apparent bid to quell speculation the domestic aircraft was falling behind its production schedule.

“Of course I’m satisfied,” General Ma Xiaotian said when asked about the performance of the J-20 after its brief public debut at the opening of Airshow China in Zhuhai in Guangdong on Tuesday.

“It’s a very good thing that our J-20 made an appearance here. We’re speeding up development,” Ma told Shenzhen Satellite Television.

Zhuhai air show opens with J-20 stealth fighter’s public debut likely to steal the limelight

A brief fly-past by the aircraft disappointed spectators and sparked concern among military analysts over the progress of the jet’s development. The pilots did not open the weapon bay doors as they did during a rehearsal a few days earlier.

Ma told the broadcaster the J-20 would not be exported, a sign the aircraft is the most advanced fighter under development by the nation’s military.

“We are not considering putting [the J-20] on the global market,” he said.

A military insider said Ma’s comments could be a way to pressure the manufacturer, Chengdu Aerospace Corporation, to deliver sooner. Japan already has F-35s built by Lockheed Martin, while South Korea expects to deploy its first batch of F-35s in 2018.

“There is a generation gap between the stealth fighters owned by China and its neighbours,” the insider said. “It creates strategic and psychological problems.”

He said the military was reluctant to provide details of the J-20 because some of its key components might not be finished or entirely originate from China.

The J-20 fly-past was to demonstrate Beijing’s confidence in its military capacity and boost national pride, Xinhua reported.

But other than the minute-long display, the public has not had another opportunity to see the aircraft.
“We learned very little. We learned it is very loud. But we can’t tell what type of engine it has, or very much about the mobility,” Greg Waldron, the Asia managing editor of FlightGlobal, told Reuters earlier.

China finishes hull of first domestically built aircraft carrier

Military officials have said that the J-20’s design is a military secret as it involves many of China’s top technologies.

At the previous Zhuhai air show in 2014, Beijing unveiled the Shenyang J-31, another stealth fighter under development, but with the intention of attracting foreign buyers.

State-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China released the J-31’s specifications last year, hoping to compete with the F-35 in the global weapons market.

The J-20 and J-31 belong to China’s “fourth generation” of aircraft and should meet at least four requirements – including stealth technology, supersonic cruising speed, highly integrated avionics, and electronic fire-control systems.

So maybe we can stop here and end that purely academic discussion.

Why would JH-7B be frequently recommended to Pakistan by some members?

The concesus around Chinese military forum is JH-7A is a 2.5 Gen(Like the Tornado)strike fighter(This role is being replaced by Multirole fighters in modern militaries). It's engine is old with low thrust and TWR, it's avionics is out of date and it had little, if any BVR capability. It also had the highest crash rate in all PLA jets.

PLAN is using it as a platform to launch standoff anti ship missiles and cruise missiles, nothing more. And people are talking about replacing all JH-7/7A with J-16s.

The JH-7B program is scrapped a long time ago.
If Pakistan wants to buy JH-7s, the only option is JH-7A which is arguably obsolete. If Pakistan wanted a strike fighter, this is an awful choice.

Basically those who are constantly supporting it are just fan boys who don't have clue how things works in military and why PAF and PN have rejected it again and again.

Britain Israel Japan too are very close us ally deprived of F-22, why China will be different with Pakistan. I know China Pakistan relationship is deep rooted.

Those feature you can expect from J-31 too.

Sir how deep you can go, India is having lots of air defence system which will make difficult for any penetration .

The difference is that till now Pakistan helped China in perfecting it's military equipment latest is Z-10 Attack helicopters, Pakistan have access to western tech, it has trained and worked with western forces, that is not available to China. US allies don't help perfect their frontline equipment like Pakistan have been doing with China since long.

I think all you need is several EWR(early warning airplane) aircraft, a EWR aircraft has a better radar than fighters, and detect much further than a fighter.a single EWR aircraft can command & control many JF17s within 500-800km.
J20 is what PLAAF will use,and will not for export within many years.on the other hand, its too expensive to buy or run it.

China will most definitely welcome pak collaboration in their 5th generation - western standards - project. So much of the fab-tech backbone developed for FC-1 / J-10 / J-11 has already been used into their next generation projects. Personally, i would pak to collaborate with the chinese in their CIVIL JET-LINER projects. Maybe an assembly line here would be an excellent investment.

J 20 with Pakistan will effect the strategic air balance in the sub continent.

India need to fasten PAK FA development with Russia and get them as soon as possible. This is the only option India has for a 5th Gen fighter.

India need to close F16/Gripen deal for 200 fighters, and should procure another 2 squadrons of Rafale

Then Be ready..

China will not provide J20 to Pakistan until the relationship between US and Pakistan really get worst and they reduce their diplomatic relationship to an enemy level to make sure not a single percent chance of techinology leakage
Nah.
you mean to say Pakistan will leak Tech of China..... Pakistan Never Betrays.
