The Next Three Olympics Are Headed to Korea, Japan, and China (2 winter, 1 summer)

OMG...2032...Is it enough time for them?
So they have to announce it after Tokyo 2020, before 2024....The decision will be made in 2025.

Beijing announced her first bid in 1990 for 2000, failed in the 1993 IOC meeting.
The second time in 1998 for 2008, finally got it in 2001.
i don't see why not , they can resuse many of the facilities built for Commonwealth games

Every country have there own priority in sports.

We can also say that a country of 1.3 billion people do not know how to play cricket, what a shame, not even can win to a small country like west indies ! We can also say that a single man in US won more medal than swimmers from 1.3 billion people !

If there is a trolling game in olympics, sure you can add one more gold medal.

Do you think it's a good idea to reuse those stadiums of less-than-required standards?

Only an absolute fool would give such a backward country the Olympics. The 2010 Commonwealth Games proved they shouldn't host anything. They are beyond clueless.

In the same way, only a fool can conduct a cricket event in china, they don't have any clue about the game, when even srilankans knows it ! Go man get a life !

I think only these countries are capable of hosting a competently run Olympic Games:

West
US
UK
France
Germany
Canada
Australia

Non-West
China
Japan
South Korea
Russia
Not really bruv . There are many other western countries like Italy, Spain(which 2020 summer olympics bid was unsuccessful), Denmark. Sweden, Norway and even Portugal etc etc etc who are CAPABLE of hosting it(in fact almost western European countries are capable of hosting it). If even Greece hosted a successful olympics you can bet many other European countries are capable of hosting it.
However, the financial priorities of many of these countries is different nowadays. Since they need to focus on their budgets.
So your statement shouldnt have been: only the listed western countries are 'capable' of hosting the olympics, It should have been: Are they "beneficial" to this countries?
Even so I will say financially, almost never.lol :agree: Some countries spend several times more money on the infrastructure and promotion than they ever recoup in game revenue. :cheesy: But, most nations know that that isn't the point. It's about something more human, less clinical and precise: pride(yes funny but true), fame, joy and spirit. We aren't Vulcans after all. Life isn't just about (not to quote Maslow) the bottom of the pyramid (which, I know, he never created.lo). If the value of things were merely measured in how they prolonged life, saved life or built physical "things", then surely this life wouldn't be worth living.:meeting:

Just having the games in one's host country is a great event and, in some cases, it does pay off in international recognition. Other times (Yes i'm looking at you, Greece) it costs so much that it's hard to imagine them ever having any positive impact.

PIGS???

It's not a bad idea to host all the Olympics games in East Asia forever. Not really a financial burden to my province at least. At least 20 cities in China are ready. We have money, infra, passion for sport, and above all the competence of holding big games.

I have the same belief too. East Asian countries have the discipline and organizational capabilities and to make the Olympics a success. It has the culture of being strict and having high standards for oneself.

I mean, look at the dirty pools of Rio. It's not that they can't clean it up, but rather because they just don't really bother about it.

This dude is comparing hosting cricket to hosting the Olympics

Since our country not taken seriously about olympics events, just like your country not taken seriously on cricket. Those who troll regularly in forums shows once frustration.Just like how brazil is good in football and how bad china in world football. Every country have priorities and so the infrastructures. If you don't have sense, sorry dude i do not have the medicine:lol::lol:

India DOES take Olympics VERY seriously. Indians are just useless at winning anything. India haven't won a gold medal in the last 2 Olympic Games. In fact even tiny countries and islands have won a gold medal.

Forget hosting an Olympic Games, India was turned into a laughing stock when you hosted the Commonwealth Games. By hosting the Commonwealth Games, it showed how utterly incompetent India really is. It was clear as day.

India won 2 shitty losers medals and they had a celebration for them
People started laughing at India for that. Indians themselves said they were humiliated at such a 'celebration'. Even Piers Morgan started mocking India.

It's one thing to celebrate winners, but celebrating 2 shitty losers medals just makes a mockery of India.

He is talking about hosting an break-even or profit like the Beijing Olympics. Almost everyone can host an Olympics to some degree, even the Vietnamese and Pinoy. LOL Brazil Rio proved that. Though to make it successful and run smoothly, then those countries mentioned make a lot of sense.

Also hosting Olympics is not a simple about pride and reputation as you claimed. There is a lot going on by hosting the Olympics. You can promote your countries for tourism, just like marketing. You can pressure your govt to accelerate infrastructure development. Those are the main money making for the long term. As far as i know, the only Olympics to make short term money is Beijing and that's understandable. It is the most successful and most watched event in the entire history of mankind. However for the most part, some Olympics are successful in the long-term, profit wise.

Indeed
Indians are the world's grand masters in making excuses for their own failures
But are the Indians getting serious this time around or not?

After dismal Rio show, PM forms task force to plan for next three Olympics
http://www.thehindu.com/news/nation...an-for-next-three-olympics/article9037187.ece

Olympic task force like old wine in new bottle; Tokyo 2020 will only be repeat of Rio 2016
http://www.firstpost.com/sports/oly...-will-only-be-repeat-of-rio-2016-2979010.html

AFAIK IOC and voting members are not used to giving away the honour of hosting the (edit: summer) Olympic games to another country in the same continent consecutively So after Japan 2020, the chance of landing the hosting right in North America is the strongest (not because I'm in favour of this ) S Africans should be a good contender since they have hosted the FIFA world cup successfully but they have to seriously get rid of their internal problems first and foremost within the next few years
