Dutch far-right party says it will ban Mosques, Quran

Hmf. Everybody is obsessed with islam in these days. In the 90s very few Europeans knew details about islam. For them it was just another "third-world" religion like Boudhism or hinduism. Now all people have opinions about it. The fact that the west shows so much fear of islam will cause the quite opposite effect. Right now you polarize western public(not muslims...)regarding islamic religion and that will not end well

Tends to happen when people blow up next to you shouting Allah Akbar.

Most Europeans don't want a total ban on mosques or the wholesale expulsion of muslims but the current political elite, the mainstream one, doesn't offer a middle solution so people are forced to look to the extreme right for one.I mean, was it all that hard to not allow an entire horde from the ME,Central Asia,Africa to waltz through the borders ? Was it hard to krank down on extremist preachers ? No.Yet,nobody cares....
If this was the case in a middle eastern dictatorship I would understand it....I thought you were democracies....Muslims do not have any influence over any western country whatsoever....then why are so afraid to crank down on extremists...I know Bangladesh does a way better job at this...and it is a Muslim country....why do you need right wing extremist voices to counter Muslim extremist voices? Why does the beacon of democracy on earth not have a proper moderate proactive group that represents the people?

If that shit happened in UK I would leg out before with all of my cash, I ain't leaving my cash for some chav to buy him lifetime supply of booze and fags. .

I don't know why the muslims community isn't more pro active.Everytime some awfull stuff goes down, nobody "knew 'nuffin","he was a decent fellow",etc.

Don't know.Public opinion would support a crackdown, would support the respect of our borders. The politicians just don't care ,so we look to the extreme right wing because they promise to get stuff done, even if we don't agree with all their rhetoric.

Pakistan was created on two nation theory which argues that muslims and non muslims are two nation and can not survive as a single entity.

I wonder why people who subscribe to such mentality cries foul when some nation ban anything which may give rise to Islam. Actually what that nation is doing is defending itself from bifurcation in future.

Understandable...but are the Europeans willing to risk the side-effects of the right wings...given that they have history of going too far getting involved in conflicts they loose and in the process send the entire continent back a couple of centuries. Do you see any ultra-right wing party gaining any considerable power in Europe anytime soon?
Another note...the French Council of State just suspended the ban on that idiotic garment...this seems in contradiction of what Europeans members were posting here earlier about this some how being consistent with French ideals.

The only political system that "works" includes: clear separation between religion and the government, anti-religious discrimination laws with teeth that are enforced, and anti-violence laws that take precedence over civil liberties.
I agree... there is no place for the quran in any European country that wishes to ban it as goes against their culture!

Europe has every right through the democratic process to close all mosques, ban the quran, and ban the hijabi.

The Two nation theory says nothing about non-Muslims.....it says Indian Hindus and Muslims are two nations. Nowhere in its proposition does it say it applies anywhere outside of the Indian subcontinent...and nowhere does it say anything about religions other than Hinduism and Islam.

That is a very anti-American statement to make....The constitution does not guarantee any form of personal safety from violence at all...it guarantees privacy and a right to bear arms and a right to self-defence.

It's not surprising that they took this decision.... @flamer84 Did you know that Hollande appointed his buddies to this court ?

Even if the court told so,the mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet and from other municipalities said they won't suspend the decrees. + An anti-burkini law will be debated and there will be a vote in the coming session at the parliament.

The politicians set to win the French elections are vehemently pro ban so the Courts decision is another iritation to what the people want.Plus, some councils anounced that they will upheld the ban. No,I don't see any major right party winning, even in the Netherlands,if they top the vote, they'll have 20-25% seats in the Parliament and they'l be overruled by a coalition but this is an alarm bell.Only idiots would ignore it.People have legitimate grievances.

You see, many don't vote with the extreme right wing but still have legitimate concerns.

Sorry for my ignorance about the French system....but the Council of State is a supreme court right? Your parliament can overrule the supreme court?(I am used to the US system...here the Supreme court is SUPREME)

Extreme right opinions have a way of tricking down to the "majority"... especially when there is a substantial minority voicing those extreme opinions. The tipping point in any democracy is the 50+1%

The Europeans have every right to ban the quran, ban all mosques, ban the hijabi...

Similarly, muslims countries have the right to follow suite... im happy Europe is openly turning against islam ... no need have any pretenses.. Im saying this as a Muslim who loves Islam

I personally don't care what Europeans ban or don't ban... doesn't affect me... no interest in every going there...

It will be more wise to see what lead us to this. This is an open society where people of all nations are accepted and despite the rhetoric on this forum this is the truth. But when your culture intrudes on me,problems surface.

Take the clothing stuff.Apart from religious official orders, can you spot an ordinary Christian ? Maybe if you squint and see a necklace with a crucificx on his neck. But a devout muslim....burqa,arabic style clothes.Because Islam is more of a ideology than religion. It tells you how to dress, how to interact with non muslims, how to fight them....The problem is that ideologies conflict with current laws and societies....and here we are.

Stop this arbitrarily made exceptions for "religious orders".

That is why people like you will never be taken seriously as you do not apply the same standards for everyone.

Banning Burkha is one thing as people have the right to see who is who in the public domain, but now banning burkhinis and mosques and Koran is going way too far.

Anyway Europe is becoming irrelevant in the world stage so carry on with your bigotry as it will harm you rather
than help.
