Jesus, what a narrow minded view.I now want Erdogan to continue this so I can laugh in your faces about your "independence".

Your economical success is owed to trade deals, capital infusion and tech transfer from the Western world,a club with his own rules that you choose to be part off.How can NATO talk about democracy and human rights when it has this Turkey as a member ? It's like being part of a gentlemen club and come wearing shorts when everyone is in a suit and tie.

As for that new Turkey-Iran-Russia axis,i'm laughing my way to the bank.Iran can't wait anymore to start doing business with the EU while Russia will accept you,for NOW,in its mind,Russia only sits as equals with the big boys-China,EU(more exactly France/Germany),US,not Turkey.Russia is interested in EU sanctions lifted and a more sympathetic US to its regional concerns. After Turkxist they will get that and resume their trade .Will they care about Turkey ? No.Will they remember the fighter incident ? Yes.More than that ,a strong Turkey is the last thing Russia wants as it can interfere with their Central Asian sphere of influence in all those "Stans".They'll tear you to pieces while your economy/army is decaying under Western sanctions.

But hey....independent and stuff....good luck with that...

Erdogan: The world doesnt consist of the EU. The US, China and Russia have death penalties...so if we start a debate on the death penalty why are some countries so disturbed? For 50 years we have been knocking on their (EU) door, many countries have come and joined already. If the nation decides to stop the application process (to the EU) then other countries will have to respect this decision.

In more blunt words: we will do what we deem is best for us. If you diasgree we dont give a ****:-)

Regarding NATO: I had conversations with Stoltenberg and Obama, both affirmed their support for us and we appreciate their support.

Regarding Incirlik: We as state cannot make emtional deciisons, that would be a mistake. Whether Gulen is extradited or not, we cannot allow these two things (Gulen/Incirlik) to get mixed up, that would be incorrect.

What you should know about Turkey's President, Recap Tayyip Erdogan:

1. The Turkish economy between 2002 and 2012 caused a growth of 64% in real GDP and a 43% increase in GDP per capita.

2. Erdoğan inherited a debt of $23.5 billion to the IMF, which was reduced to $0.9 billion in 2012. He decided not to sign a new deal. Turkey's debt to the IMF was thus declared to be completely paid and he announced that the IMF could borrow from Turkey.

3. In 2010, five-year credit default swaps for Turkey's sovereign debt were trading at a record low of 1.17%, below those of nine EU member countries and Russia.

4. In 2002, the Turkish Central Bank had $26.5 billion in reserves. This amount reached $92.2 billion in 2011. During Erdoğan's leadership. Inflation fell from 32% to 9.0% in 2004.

5. Under Erdoğan's government, the number of airports in Turkey increased from 26 to 50.

6. Between 2002 and 2011, another 13,500 km of expressway were built.

7. For the first time in Turkish history, high speed railway lines were constructed, and the country's high-speed train service began in 2009. In 8 years, 1,076 km of railway were built and 5,449 km of railway renewed.

8. Erdogan put greater investments into the healthcare system than any predecessor. As part of the reforms, the "Green Card" program, which provides free health benefits to the poor.

9. Erdoğan increased Education spending from 7.5 billion lira in 2002 to 34 billion lira in 2011, the highest share of the national budget given to one ministry and number of universities in Turkey nearly doubled, from 98 in 2002 to 186 in October 2012.

10. In 1996 1$=222 Lira and in 2016 1$=2.94 Lira, even after the recent turmoil.

Why do you think so?
We need to overhaul the military. The past events proved that the army is too susceptible to foriegn indoctrination. The whole model has to be modernized. This will have many benefits such as creating a more capable fighting force, freeing up more money for equipment and ultimately bringing the TSK to the 21st century. BUT this shit has to be managed very clinicaly...like planting a new heart: safe, clean, professionally and with confidence

I would prefer a professional army also about a none professional, but you should know, a professional army is more capable to carry our a coup.
