What's new

Turkish Aviation Programs

I remember reading about indigenous turboprop engine project, Reaper is using honeywell TPE331 which is developed back in 50s. Hürkuş also uses engine developed back in the 50s. What stage is our turboprop program for both hürkuş and Akıncı. and Do we need it since these engines are widely available?

Developing Turbojet engine derive from Kale's turbofan would be more logical Since Turbojet engines are harder to find trusted suppliers. But I am not so sure that we have know how for such ambitious projects. Though We have to start developing Turbojet sometime in the future.

The engine that used in Reaper is also in use with our Korean trainers (900 hp). Hürkuş uses stronger 1600 hp engine.

Kale failed to establish turbofan, but turbojet as far as I know. So we will continue with turbojet which is similar to French Microturbo TRI-40.

Akinci project has been generated to develop a 5t Anka to climb higher altitudes(45000ft) and to carry much heavier payload (1000kg) thanks to turboprop engine. Akinci will not only carry miniature munitions like Bayraktar TB2, but also fighter like heavier class domestic laser and IIR guided munitions.

Certainly like MQ-9 Reaper, the 230 kg (500 lb) GBU-12 Paveway II laser-guided bombs or the 230 kg (500 lb) GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM).

Air Force requests SATCOM+CATS Anka
EGM wants SAR radar+CATS+GAG Anka
Navy wants SAR + CATS + SATCOM Anka.
MIT wants SATCOM+CATS+ELINT Anka.

CATS itself has capability of delivering lazer guided bombs/missiles to land targets preciously. No need to mention capability of calculating the coordinates of a spotted target. Those capabilities are about delivering guided munitions to specific points so Estimating the all Anka variants to be armed (if requested) thanks to CATS, is not a dream.

Thanks for informing us bro.

I believe this is the reason why does ANKA project take long time.

All those requests must have been achieved success by TAI. So every single addition has needed test time, special test.

What I feel is that from now on every single delivered ANKA may be operational by morning.

I mentioned 2 different engine which both if them developed back in 50s. So I am aware of they use diffrent engines.

Also Kale's turbofan engine didn't go through any evaluations yet. So We don't know if it is failed. Kale suppose to gave 2 prototypes to SSM this month.

Aselpod directed Lazer guided munition to its target preciously.
