A JF-17 equipped with Aselpod & SOM cruise missiles will be a treat to watch. Will totally nullify any talk of naval blockade. More than any other Turkish product, Pakistan needs to get its hands on the SOM. Such a lovely little toy!

Yea ... we haven't seen any additional development on the Ra'ad (publicly at least). I understand our R&D capacity not being great, but it's surprising that we haven't extended an invite to a competent vendor to help us out with ALCM development. A lighter ALCM that we can easily load onto the JF-17's wings would be nice, especially one that could double as an anti-ship missile (via IIR seeker).

for naval version i think we can use raad missile with 350 km range.

Wasn't there a Turkish-Pakistani agreement on cruise missile partnership a while back? Any movements on that sector?

If not joint development, Pakistan should buy the SOM outright and use it as anti-shipping and other roles. It's a compact and highly advanced system.

To me, the Ra'ad looks bulky. I am not well versed on the aerodynamics of missiles so am speaking strictly in terms of cosmetics here. Perhaps Pakistan could collaborate with Turkey to redesign the Ra'ad?

they dont need it
the raad was supposedly tested on the jf-17 on its last test. its classed as a sow missiles and i dont see why anther would be used. yes the som is smaller but that dont matter, why have two missiles to do one job. and for targets within 120km will be dealt with the glide bombs. sea targets will be dealth with c802. speaking of the c802 im sure it can be modified to engage land targets

Maybe Bilal khan can provide better explanation that I can, but it seems the SOM is much more advanced and classifies as next generation. Versions of it are being developed on use on F-35.

Pakistan has its own SOW programs, which are ahead of Turkish SOM. You don't see any details on them, or won't seen any details on them, as they are not for export like the Turkish model.

It has been made to fit the bomb bay of JSF. Pakistan already has adequate ALCM and SLCM programs that don't require a SOM acquisition.

There is no requirement for vendor assist on our SOW programs.

indeed but one thing that does cross my mind is what if the falcon dude as a point. if can fit inside the f35 so wont it be able to fit into the j31 ? it being a bigger bird than the f35 what wont be a problem right?
or do you boys have that side covered too?

Since SOM is being integrated onto F-16 so shouldn't we go for it for our F-16s if Uncle Sam approves it ?

Mate, i see it meaningless to discuss with anonymous forumers in the internet whom claims things that can't be verified. Also, to prevent any future misunderstanding, i'm saying that i will only feel proud and happy if Pakistan is ahead of us on some or all of the programs. Strong Turkey benefits Pakistan and Strong Pakistan benefits Turkey as we are brother countries.

But i think that i see a logical mistake in your post;

You suggest that there are secret / top secret projects of Pakistan that is not available for public&foreigners. Can't we assume the same thing for Turkey ? Like we are developing secret / top secret projects that are not available for public&foreigners.

Than how can you suggest that Pakistan is ahead of Turkey regarding to stand off missiles ?

Sir ,with due respect I beg to differ .Turkey is way ahead of Pakistan in many fields . Infact ,we can learn many things from our Turkish brothers . but in standoff missile , Pakistan is slightly ahead .

I agree with you - there's no way for the Pakistani side to quantify such a claim. Looking at the Ra'ad and SOM today, the SOM looks like the more advanced (e.g. 500kg lighter!) ALCM. Sure, one could suggest that Pakistan is producing micro-turbojets, how else (besides smuggling stuff from China or Ukraine) could it field LACMs beyond the MTCR? But then again, this is just an analysis, not a fact (unless Pakistan confirms that this is the case). Also, I imagine Turkey's budget for LACM development is a lot deeper than that of Pakistan.

Yeah, that's what i'm saying....we can't know for sure before any official confirmation...

I mean, we had news from defense magazines that 800km version of already being tested in 2014.

How ever, these magazines uses "anonymous officials" for their sources. Unless we saw that missile on the Roketsan's official website or a public confirmation from an official, we don't speculate on it.

Bro, no need for formalities. :-) It's not like i'm offended or something like that from this claim. As i said we are brothers, there won't be issues like that between brothers.

But in standoff missile , Pakistan is slightly ahead .
Bro, yes that could be true....or not.

But when you say "But in standoff missile , Pakistan is slightly ahead ." I will ask according to what ?

If you compare the existing systems and prove it to me the Pakistani missiles are better. I will say "Ok, bro you are right."

But when you talk about some imaginary missiles that no one knows, to prove your claims....then i will say " Hold on a minute, there is something wrong here. We are comparing based on speculations and it's not logical to do so."

And that's what i'm saying to this post;

H 4 ( 120 km ) H2 (60 km ) Ra'ad (350 km ) Babur ( 750) . I don't know what further development is going on but these missiles are publically known .by the way , the man you are quoting is ex PAF pilot . so he has some inside knowledge.
