What's new

Ukraine says Pakistan could be a regional partner for the joint production of Antonov An-225.

And you know that only 1 or two build till date...i wonder why Pakistan need this big plane...Once they tried to build commercial passenger Jet with the capacity of 1500 passengers but rejected the idea later....

Actually what we need are civilian passenger planes, if they can do it with antonov it will be a fantastic idea and a revolution for Pakistan civil aviation industry.

Must have been a major miscommunication. Antonov is looking to push the An-178 and potentially even An-188 (A-400 class transport) to as many markets as possible. Pakistan has potential considering that it could at some level use new transport aircraft.

If anything, the An-178 (18 ton lift) would make for a good compliment to the C-130s. In fact, the air-to-air refuelling (AAR) version of the An-178 would make for a good tactical tanker system, perhaps even ideally suited for Pakistan and supporting the JF-17s (more so than the lumbering IL-78).

Besides the An-178 and An-188, I'd also be interested in the Grot 2 trainer. I think that platform has the potential to one day replace our K-8s and even serve as a LIFT.

Currently AN-225 is the largest airplane in the world, this project will need billions of dollars and no single nation can afford that. In Past i read in article they purposes the idea to make a passenger jet of AN-225 with 1500 passenger carrying capacity but almost all the airlines rejected the idea out of fear that in a single crash loss of 1500 human lives will be catastrophic for the airline.

it is also not feasible ...you cant fly it on karachi - dubai route ... and you cant find 1500 passengers to US on any given date.

any feasible time is --Hajj-- but what you will do with that after hajj ?

...just forget all the fuss .. it's just nothing but 'empty' noise making

More on above many runways can't be used to land or takeoff such big aircraft.

An-225 Mariya? I believe only one of that was ever built.....false report?

Why will you wish this plane which is not going to see any future? :) Its expensive, maintenance intensive compared any other plane in its class. You would rather wish for IL series which is much better compared to any thing that flies in that category today.

Its an offer not a deal. Pakistan do need medium lift aircrafts for military but not theses monsters unless we want an air refuelling tanker with more capacity.
