Vietnam has finished bilateral negotiations with two top economies, the U.S. and Japan, on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement, according to the Vietnamese Multilateral Trade Policy Department.

Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang joined his counterparts from eleven other countries in negotiating the TPP in a ministerial meeting from June 28 to July 31 in Hawaii, in order to address remaining issues before concluding the TPP talks, the department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on Monday.

Let's not hide what TPP really is. It's basically weak nations giving trade concessions to the USA for military protection against China. The weaker you are, the less bargaining power you have.
you can ask yourself why Vietnam and many others in the region are forced to seek security with the US?

Everyone have different motives. In Vietnam's case, they want to escape being in China's shadow like they were for 99% of their existence. Others like Japan and Philippines are already fully invested in the American/west led hegemonic world order, so any disturbance to that feels like a threat to them. As for Taiwan, they are the other part of China split into its own little part (technically the civil war between PRC and ROC is not over) after losing control of the mainland so there is still resistance against PRC, thus they want American support. Did I miss anyone?

Taking control of strategically important islands in SCS and ECS is ultimately aimed at countering USA naval dominance in the region. Every other nation in the region are just bystanders who can get in the way. China needs to make it unacceptably costly for US to intervene in any conflict and destroy Ally's, like S. Korea and Japan, confidence in the USA's ability to protect them from China. The goal is to drive USA out of the region.

If China has ambition to even be a regional power, let alone a World power, it has to remove hostile existential threats, like the USA, from its neighbourhood. The USA wouldn't accept Chinese military presence in their neighbourhood so why should China continue to accept USA deploying missiles in Japan and Korea, against them.

Countries like Vietnam and Philippines need to see the overall power game being played out and negotiate the best possible deal for them, at all costs. Otherwise, they will be drawn in as sacrificial pawns, into a potentially bloody war, that they will only lose from, regardless of who wins, out of USA or China. However this power game plays out, China is still Vietnam's neighbour, and they will have to deal with China, whatever way it goes. Putting all your eggs into America's basket is an unwise move. Most of Asia understand this and are hedging their bets. Vietnam would do well to follow suit.

Well, overall, the trade agreements are beneficial for all the participating countries. These agreements allow the member states put the products and services their competitiveness to the market of the other Member States (normally this can not do it because of this import duty, import quotas or other trade barriers). Most developed countries impose it on developing countries in act of dumping, u can easily find example online.

Generally, trade agreements benefit the developing countries. developing countries sell all that they can sell, and developed countries can buy all the things developing countries sell. But developed countries can only sell what developing countries can afford to buy.

So in general, the United States must weigh the trade agreements than Vietnam was

- But, of course, trade agreements can include provisions such as ISDS allow foreign companies to flank attack of the legislation system of a country, and this is what VN must trying to avoid. Traditionally, in the trade agreement, only the governments of the countries signed agreements (or representative government) can take action. In recent years, some provisions ISDS has allowed private companies from countries that signed the agreement to take action and sued government, although the company is not a member sign join the pact.

-These terms ISDS really help companies have the power to manipulate them as a weapon to put pressure on the governments of developing countries, forcing them to obey. A powerful company, with the profit motive, certainly will sue, or threatening event, the government of a developing country for issued the regulations, or the promulgation of new regulations, against the profit and the company's interests. Phillip Morris Group is conducting such activities in Australia and Uruguay

-Interestingly, many American intellectuals protest ISDS clauses because, I think, they are afraid to have the case against the American legal system. I also said that they do not want American companies pinched developing countries around the world (Hillary Clinton and Joseph Stiglitz is typical for such intellectual). Ethical thought that come from higher strata of American intellectuals made me admire them.

- In the framework of the TPP agreement, Vietnam can achieve many benefits from the export of textiles, coffee seafood and fruit, and also can damage the meat industry and fodder.in agriculture sector

- In terms of industrial products and high-tech products, Vietnam currently has to import many products related to high-tech industries and lesser extent industrial product, and the TPP, the US could increase competitive strength in these two areas Vietnam market.

- Events of products and services in Vietnam go abroad, according to the FDI flows move (foreign direct investment) or other pathways, such as import, Vietnam will benefit because at least it also helps train the sophisticated skills and labor complex for Vietnam. Also, it help to raise education level and competitiveness of labour, also their productivity

- Terms relating to pharmaceuticals - stop or reduce the original drug (generic drugs) to treat serious diseases - would have negative impacts on people around the world, including developing countries bear the greatest impact.

-And also the intellectual property term may harm Vietnam in development path as she still developing countries. Overall, benefit still outweigh cost

- When agreement take place, those pharmaceutical, intellectual property, ISDS and Rule of origin will be ease in Vietnam at least 3-10 years before it apply to Vietnam, so government need to make plan to reap max benefit ofc before it take action as agreement with US

-Lastly, outside TPP, Vietnam also negociate other trade deal with other countries in other path of the world. She was member of many trade deal organisation that will take place in future

Don't know why many think it is like alliance agreement:rolleyes::eek::o:, . It doesn't inclade security and military sector. It was basically trade deal, Chinese members no need to have such paranoid, it just cover economic side

 you really think this a proud achievement?

The essense of TPP is an official contract for the economically weaker countries to sell themelves as serfs for life, because its domestic industries of all kinds will have no chance of being independent ever again under this contract. It is another form of colonialism in fact. On the contrary it is the most advantagous thing an economically poweful country could do. That's a major reason USA is so eager to push it.

Dont make your opinions into existing facts. Every country seeks for its own interests however if one's interest conflicts another, no cooperation will be made. A lot of your talk has only one point that is China is doing right and Vietnam is doing wrong that is fallacy, that also means you think it wrong.

I know right!?

Quite sad these Asian countries are so happy to lick white men's boots but don't want to co-operate more with neighbour, China, to drive them out of Asia. Well I guess they have been licking their boots for so long now, they have acquired the taste for it.
That statement alone shows how wrong you are when think of other countries disagree with China. How can your opinion be more creditable with that kind of thought?
