What's new

Pakistanis give Rs 650b in charity every year: study

Paying taxes is your duty and it shows up in public records. You can scrutinize a persons public records. But what you give in charity is private affair between donor and the recipient.
I try to avoid the indirect taxes by buying smuggled Afghan transit products bhai 20% on certain products had hotey hay

Yes and no..A lot of that money may be actually going in to the hands of jihadists.

I'm sure some of the money is being used for humanitarian purposes, not 100% of it will go to terrorist organizations of course.
But a major part of them is indeed funding the mullahs.
Just yesterday only, I saw a thread that says there are such organizations in Bahawalpur, run by Masood Azhar, and they get funding from public.

Name the organization which did most humanitarian work after Kashmir quake and Sindh flood?

After the government of Pakistan
hmm..this is interesting.. Saudi Arabia, followed by US.

After that, probably India - sent USD 30 million aid, 22 trucks, medical equipments and 400 aid workers too.

Before you speak learn to do some research, go search things out. Most funds go to relief funds because we have victims of natural disasters to deal with and the government is not interested in doing that. After that comes health care funded by donations and SKHT and Al KhidmatTH are two examples. Then there are those who feed the poor, those that help the poor get free education, basically there is a strong welfare system in place in Pakistan for the poor. There is a reason refugees do not go back to their countries even when things are improving there rapidly

I'm not denying the good work done by the humanitarian organizations. How ever can you deny the fact that a major portion of the money goes to these mullahs ? The govt. should properly monitor the movement of funds.

Minor at best. Edhi is running on charity, cancer hospital and clinics are running on charities. 2 more cancer hospitals are being built in these years on charity. The hospital where I volunteered got dialysis set up of 12 machines by charity. There are schooling and education projects based on charity, Abrar has started and is running an hospital on charity, Shehzad Roy has a school network built that runs on charity. So much goes on here with the charity, who do you think feeds all the undocumented Afghans etc

Nugget from DAWN:

Most of the banks witnessed heavy withdrawal of cash by depositors, but they believe the cash will return after `Zakat deduction day’ would be over. The government deducts Zakat on first Ramazan and the people withdraw heavily before first Ramazan to avoid deduction.

“Though it is a normal practice continued for years, the amounts withdrawn from banks are rising each year,” said Aleem Ahmed, a local bank manager.

We do not trust our government, we rather give the charity ourselves.

These are commendable job indeed and one should appreciate that whole heartedly.
I have raised my concern about issues we need to be wary about, it's up to my counter part to decide how much importance one wishes to give. If I press on any further, it will ruin the thread, so I will refrain from doing that.
