Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to send another state of the art satellite into space to fortify its position in space and a sum of Rs. 7 billion has been allocated in the budget 2015-16 for this program.

Pakistan is likely to be able to launch the new satellite in the space by the end of 2018. Headquarter of this satellite program will be set up in Lahore. Work will also be initiated for establishment of satellite station under SPARCO. The new project will be started in the upcoming financial year 2015-16.

The neighboring countries China and India outnumber Pakistan in the quantity of satellites held by them and they are reaping enormous economic and defense benefits from them. On the other hand Pakistan had launched one satellite in space earlier. The launching of the new satellite will usher in new revolution in the domain of communication in Pakistan besides bolstering country’s potential for satellite monitoring and achieving defense targets. This program will also help in ensuring equitable distribution of water among four provinces under 1991 water apportionment accord.

The sources said this objective will be achieved within three years and more 14 billion rupees will be earmarked for this project in the federal budget of next two fiscal years.

Nothing wrong in getting help for the greater good of nation.
It is not a f***** d*** measurement contest. Nor is it about fake egos
I understand, just that the government must trust and give a chance to our engineers and scientists for once to experiment with innovative ideas. We once upon a time had the best space program in Asia and after 50 years if we cannot build a satellite we are lagging far behind

The satellite will be ours but will most likely be launched through a Chinese SLV....

Why Chinese SLV, you have "indigenous" SRBMs yet you can't develop SLV to put 50 kg Satellite into LEO.
Their tech is just borrowed from china ..... As an engineer I can say that their 2750 range missile has all the knowledge to launch a satellite in LEO. If it was their own tech , they would just launch a nano satallite (7 kg) in LEO . can be done within months of taking the decision.

Now , for this satellite , the headline is wrong as pakistan has no proven SLV. The launch will be done by chinese.
Let us see who fabricates the satellite.

Correction we have an "INDIGENOUS" MRBM program in the form of the Shaheen series

If they are planning it by 2018 i doubt they can put the infrastructure in place knowing SUPARCO'S performance in the past......Those missiles were developed by NESCOM

Anyway poor reporting they should have made that clear if Pakistan itself is going to launch the satellite.

Is there any pakistan plans to remote sensing satellite exclusively for military in near future. Also does pakistan has tie up with chinese to use beidou system, it would then eliminate duplicates efforts

So you have "indigenous" MRBM programme, but why can't you develop your own SLV which is just a primitive and Basic Tech compare to SRBM and MRBM,Even Iran SRBM tech is inferior than Pakistan yet they possesses SLVs.

Why this discrepancy ?

Exactly most probably designed in Pk & made & launched by china
