Vertical Launch Astra Based Air Defence System (LLQRM) Under Development

Let me tell you that new light weight wing redesigns and Intake redesign work is on. That shall give even current LCA a very decent performance.

Hi, you got any source or links for this piece of news?
I can take your word for it... Knowing you in this forum
Still interested in reading the original source.

Is this mk1.5 that has recently coming out in news?

LCA is a Mig-21 replacement and will be obsolete by the time IAF fields it in full strength. Grippen is designed and build as a modern fighter for the modern battlefield.
You talking really silly you know?

I don't know much about the trials of LCA.
Actually you know nothing about anything. You even know where you living? Mars?

When I asked about BrahMos, you ran away.

Come on, it is not that easy. Its not like you change a wheel and make it take off from frozen air fields. Do you know why US still has propeller powered transport aircraft? Because these type of aircraft can practically land/take off from anywhere as long as the surface is reasonably flat and hard. Propeller driven aircraft can take off from a cricket-pitch flat plain. Try doing that with a jet powered aircraft and watch it crash.

The Gripen is a jet and yet it can take off/land from unprepared airfields. THAT is a MAJOR plus point in combat situation.

I don't know much about the trials of LCA. What I do know it has yet to be inducted and a second version has to be developed because the first one is obviously not good enough. And yes, the Mk.2 version is still not done.

MMRCA test details are not made public, unless they do I refuse to believe why the Gripen was rejected. The army has time and again refused Indian products that time you accuse the army of corruption. LOL!!

Indian fighters are so perfect that they are still undergoing trials.

Landing in roads and pave ways is indeed a good capability

It's of utmost importance to a smaller country which don't have too many airbases in case few they have , have been incapacitated

For a larger country it is not that important.

For a larger country it is not that important.

Do you know the easiest way to take out an enemy air force? Take out their air-bases, something PAF did in their surprise 1965 air raids. If PAF launches Babur missiles and destroys the runway then from where are the IAF planes supposed to take off?

India may be a large country, it does not have the largest number of airports military and civilian.

@ni8mare - 3.5 at best. You idiots keep forgetting that LCA was conceived as a replacement for the Mig-21s. And I hope you idiots are educated enough to understand what replacement means in English language. So the LCA was conceived as a replacement for the Mig-21 but because of the inevitable Indian delay the project kept getting shelved decade after decade and world kept coming up with better aircraft.

Sorry, it is a 0.0000000001 generation plane. It was conceived to replace the wright brother's plane but unfortunately the program is still running as you know DRDO/HAL.

@ni8mare

Research? You trolls even know the meaning of that word?

It's look like you know the meaning of "RESEARCH" and did thorough "RESEARCH".

We request you to please share one of your research papers on this subject which you are talking about now.

There is no such thing called 0.0000....01 generation plane. But then trolls like you who are yet to build a paper plane would not know of such terms. A generation is defined as the advancement of aircraft. From the very earliest biplanes to modern stealth jets.

And yes the LCA will keep running until a foreign partner comes in to help prop it up or India has to jettison the project.

Of course I understand what research is and I would love to share my papers here. But then you gave ample proof of your stupidity and retarded behavior when you said LCA is a 0.0000...01 generation plane. It is obvious from your words that you are a mere child still learning alphabets and nursery rhymes.

Get a proper education, learn how to behave and talk and I will be happy to educate you.

You are dismissed for now.

Sorry, I am not in your pay roll and you can't dismiss me. I am still waiting for your research papers.

.
There is any plane with 3.5 Gen? or any gen named 3.5?

YOU ARE OVER IMPRESSED WITH GRIPEN. I AM HELPLESS 9THOUGH I CONSIDER GRIPEN A VERY GOOD AIRCRAFT)

Gripen can take off from frozen/snow covered/ damaged runways; your precious Tejas cannot. End of argument.

As for sales figures. It does not even come into play. Nobody except India will but Indian defence products, so a fair comparison cannot be expected. I did not know India can produce super-tankers, oh sorry bad joke.
Well then here are my facts:-
Gripen has 8 incidents in which 5 are are full hull loss accidents. LCA (even when in Indian hands) has no incident till now and as many respected posters have repeatedly pointed out, LCA program has been running for a very very long time. Still no incident. Also LCA is repeatedly performing well in high altitude areas and at sea level. Where as Gripen failed in high altitude test during MMRCA. Also consider the fact that foreign stuff are subjected to very lenient checks as compared to local stuff (eg: T90 vs Arjun) as foreign stuff bring kick backs.

As for your point, taking off from un prepared runways, well it can takeoff from roads, sure, But do provide proof for taking off from un-prepared runways. Also this requirement or feature will not have much significance for LCA as its point defense aircraft. Interestingly mirages can also take off from roads. PAF have successfully done that in past. As matter of fact (Borrowing from what @kaku1 on a different forum ) "What the hell use of landing the plane on the public roads, and this can be done only in emergency. And in emergency every plane can land on road even a Boeing 747" also IAF pilots train for landing and taking from Parallel Taxi Tracks that are around 75 feet wide – half the width of a normal runway.

I would love to share my papers here.
Ooh so we have a research scholar here... Prey put your money where your mouth is and pls point us one research paper you have published, just one. Online talk is cheap, waana show you are a big shot, prove it. We will happily accept if any of your claims hold water but donn think people out here are fools. Some guys, here really know what they are talking.(I do not claim to be one of them, but I can carry my own self.)

Ask Yourself a question whether we can have any World class aircraft without having MK1?

We never had a world class aircarft irrespective of MK1 or MK100. Brazilians can make Embraer jets and other stuff what is stopping India?
