Pakistan Didn't Pay a Penny for South Asia University; India Stops Midway

They could set up this in BD. Which is a neutral place.Chittagong is a good place. Bangladesh have international universities like Asian Women University and OIC Islamic University

University is in the wrong place.

I think they might set up sister campuses in other countries. Why is a university not the right place for interaction and cross-cultural contact? I think it will be ideal.

Off topic, I know BD has a history of very good universities. My great-grandfather was a professor in Dhaka University!

India would have the greatest influence in any institute set up in India. It may also be a good recruiting ground for RAW. PAK did a good thing. I m personally against any sort of cultural/educational cooperation like "south asian university" with pagan India unless every member have equal say in the institute and its not in Indian territory.

You are thinking with your bias cap on, my friend. Getting a rich exchange of 'taleem' is important regardless of the venue. Unless of course there is an inherent security crisis for the students.

Imagine your students influencing other students to then come visit the universities you have stated in Bangladesh- all coming out of this exchange.

Problem is Indians hatred for Pakistanis put even normal citizens life in danger. We are not talking about RSS type Indians but everyday Indian who will not think twice before killing Pakistani civilian.

University should have been in Bangladesh or Sri Lanka.

Is that the reason you have several Pakistani musicians, artists, actors that throng to India? I know pakistani's ( away from PDF)to be warm, caring and hospitable, just like I know Indians to be the same.

Quit the knee jerk hatred for the sake of the next generation.

With every post you are revealing your true self. Pakistani artists have been beaten and even IPL does not pick **** players because of security reasons.

I was actually posting unbiased. Pakistan and India has enmity. So organization as such should be set up in neutral places. BD, Nepal and SL is good option.

And what did you mean later part? Those universities in BD are really nice place as I mentioned.

Did Pakistan agree to pay and then default or was this imposed on Pakistan?
its not fault a fault of Pakistan if it was 'imposed' that they fund the campus and they did not pay anything.
But if Pakistan agreed or volunteered to pay and then turned back, then it indeed is an issue.

University will not be held responsible if the Visa is refused by goi..... :coffee:

We are not interested,
What is purpose of opening this university?
Its pointless to pay for anything which is being build in India. Only few months ago single Pakistani student was beaten to death in Indian university.
A colossal fckin waste of time and money.
If the Pakistani Government does not wish to pay money, it should clearly bow out of the project with dignity.
Governments are not run on whims and fancies.

Staying in the program and then not paying brings disrepute/shame to the Nation.

First India should pay back billions of $ British empire left for Pakistan.

I was looking at pursuing a course on international relations from this university. I was particularly interested in getting into a class from different cultural and religious background. I think India should take the lead being the biggest economy in the region. Even if Pakistan does not pay, it does not matter. The university is in New Delhi and the university can become a centre for independent research on strategic studies.
Horus, I'm going to hold you to your promise you made that the new generation = new way of thinking.

This university could be the hotbed of great interaction between students and academia from each of the countries, coming together to promote great cultural bonds. Where students would get to experience an education that would introduce them to the various member countries rich culture and history.

You would see students from all over the world joining this university and not just from the region. Imagine having that level of cultural exchange. Education of this sorts is a beautiful thing. Don't let the poison of bias blind you.

.
The University project is going ahead with or without Pakistani contribution.

However the issue on the matter would be that if Pakistanis do not wish to pay up then they should bow out with dignity rather than be removed from the University Board.

On a people to people level there is no enmity and I speak from personal experience. It is remarkable to watch when anyone from of these two countries visits the other.

You literally see the host countries people falling all over each other to be be hospitable to the guest. It's a cultural thing.

We are not interested,

If you're not interested, move out. The problem is one set of people signing an agreement, the other set saying a few years later they're not interested. Not taking responsibility for previous decisions is hardly the way to go, I'd think.

@US_statedept_retired

Sir the simple fact is that this Uni offers us no merit. Pakistani exchange students are regularly harrassed and beaten by uber nationalist Indians.

Pakistanis are not allowed to play cricket in Indian IPL even. The amount of racism there is out of one's imagination, especially towards Pakistanis. Considering the rape epidamic in India, its not possible to send Pakistani females to study there.

If someone can convince me that the benefits of paying for a University in India outweigh the benefits of building a University in Pakistan with that money, i'm willing to say amen to this Uni.
