What's new

& the winner in Maharashtra & Haryana is...

Bihar will be easy..

Bihar complex caste equation makes election very easy. To cut cast-1 Vote put an cast-1 dummy candidate. cast-1 vote will be divided and you will win.

The BJP are not the only ones who know how to play tricks, what if JDU-RJD do the same thing?? They could ensure the defeat of our candidates.

During the LS elections, they fielded the son of the leader of 'Ranvir Sena' in a constituency to divide the votes of Bhumihars.

That will spell the end of Congress. Love them or hate them, the Gandhi family is the central point along which the entire Congress revolves. With them gone, Congress will disintegrate into various factions.

Unfortunately that is a 100% fact.

BJP making breakthrough in Tamil Nadu and Kerala is quite a tough task, I hope they could do it.

BJP will win 2-3 seats in Kerala on next assembly election. Best opportunity is in Aranmula. The BJP already have a good leader there and he have wide support because of the protest against an airport being built there.

I think BJP should give CM post to Shiv Sena and keep all the major portfolios to themselves.. Thus they can fry those NCP leaders who were accused of corruption..CM post will satisfy the ego of Uddav Thackeray..

Nahi yaar.. Bas busy hu.. Yea, I also wanted NCP stays away from miles.. If NCP supports BJP, then they will call all kinds of favours.. Already most of the leaders have corruption allegations including Praful Patel.. Why you think he is desperate for an alliance with BJP?? Fry them all.. And BJP caders plays their card right they can defect many voters of NCP to their side in next five years..

BTW, is this helpful for BJP to acquire majority in Rajya Sabha??

I don't see that happening anytime soon. here is why
  1. The problem is not just the Gandhi family but the aging leaders too, who are stuck in some ancient time-frame. Also we hardly see any grass root level organization more so after LS elections rout. So called senior leaders chickened out to take direct fight and the few seats that we see Congress wining have been traditional strong holds. Traditionally Congress president enjoys an undisputed clout and holds absolute power, this in turn breeds coterie of people who wish to be seen close to the head with or without any merit and most times get a significant voice in party matters which often dis-courage merit at lower level and result is that there is hardly a leader who has actually earned his position. The decay percolates the entire structure right upto bottom most rung.
  2. Congress has always believed in populist measures (Garibi hatao, MNREGA etc) which worked in past, but with time have become ineffective. Earlier (i would say prior to economic liberalization) food and shelter used to be the biggest issues before country's poorest. However over last 2 decades or so, significant portion of population has come above that category and now wish to see more substantial development (Roads, telecom, education etc). For years Congress never had any constructive agenda to address these. In fact we still see Congress doing well only in those areas which are still hugely backward (Tribal areas for one). BJP on other hand has been able to portray and execute plans that appeal to neo-urban class. More than Gujarat, i think it is the state of MP where we can see BJP's model of governance succeeding.
  3. Communalism / secularism isn't a big issue anymore. If we see pattern in last 5 years or so, people have started looking at candidate on his merits as governor and not falling for old caste and communal plank. This trend will only get stronger with more people coming out to vote and think in rational manner. In this regard, i can predict a major upheaval in UP's political scenario.
  4. Finally....

(Sorry i tried but could not resist:p:)
PS: Priyanka is a far better bet. But that just me saying.

This number will change after the results, however, several important bills are coming up and with numbers in RS against NDA, it will be quite useful to have as much support as possible.

I am looking forward for uniform civil code...

Fat chance of that. The government is still struggling with the insurance bill. Not enough support in the Rajya Sabha & these elections won't even add to the numbers till 2016.

Not really, the changes will happen gradually & will only begin in 2016. No addition to the Rajya Sabha till then.

Me too but looks highly improbable. Its a political Hot potato which other than BJP i don't think anybody even willing to discuss.

I think its not a case of absolute numbers. As we had seen in last LS, parties like SP and BSP were forced to support Congress for reasons known well. With momentum with BJP, several parties may change stance depending on what price they want to extract from government and what govt in turn is willing to pay. Modi has been wooing parties like AIADMK for getting support in RS and with changed political dynamics, the government might succeed in getting some more numbers in its favor. Alternately (as happened in FDI in retail debate) some parties may choose to abstain or walkout which in-directly helps in passage of certain economic bills. Also a lot depends on government's floor managers.
