Low turnout, More Violence as Kashmiris Boycott India Poll

Had the Kashmiris voted in huge numbers they would have elected if they wanted to be ruled by a firm and soft foot on their throat or a heavy one !!!

again - simply stated:

you dont kill, rape and occupy and then expect people to accept you and consider the murderers/hunters as "fellow citizens"

and be realistic - because arguments like "let them move to Pakistan" just doesnt work. . .

Wouldn't hold my breath on that one...

humans arent perfect....even the most patient can pounce, when driven to do so

Issue of Kashmir is a scar on Indian democracy. only if the Indians weer aware of what brutality has been faced by the Kashmiris then they would have been more understanding.

having to keep over a million army is simply an occupation simple.

Irfan saab,
How many troops do you have in rawalpindi? Please do realize bunch of regimental Hq's are in J&K along with the Northern command

and to add to that, the use of rape/torture/AFSPA/fake encounters/mass graves is a million army genocide

what does Pindi have to do with Kashmir, how do you connect the two

I checked several sources I think the percentage for the whole state of J&K is 43%. The earlier 49.98% was only for two constituencies. 43% is definitely on the lower side but it is by no means poor for a state like J&K and it is as much as KPK, more than Baluchistan and FATA in Pakistan. It would be foolish to think that some people didn't boycott elections but we don't really care about those separatist. They can get the **** out of Kashmir for all we care. 43% is a pretty respectable number.

43 pc voters turnout recorded in Jammu and Kashmir | The Indian Express

was a candidate from APHC allowed to run in this election?

answer that - and you'll open a can of worms either way

Regimental HQ, HQ of Northern command... Indian troop presence is justified.

not when they are in territory that never belonged to them

the fact that Modi's victory is pretty much "fait accompli" -- it speaks volumes about the a large chunk of people and their political/ideological aspirations

there lies the difference between Pakistan and india...in our case - when it wasn't Generals (only one of which had a religious agenda), it was either leftist/socialist or right-of-center candidate(s) whose only ideology was sifarish & cronyism

say's who? :pop:

Pakistanis, Kashmiris, OIC and individuals around the world who are educated about the conflict

Kashmir is an unfinished agenda since our indepndence and it will continue until its resolved or until humankind perishes

OIC, :) ... Pakistan then should be lobbying for OIC to sanction India, no?

Kashmir, With almost 50% voter turnout, that too seems far-fetched.

Pakistan: What has stopped pakistan from resolving the issue... till 65 you were sleeping with UNSC resolutions, ad then you pretty much threw it in the trash.....

well given the millions and millions of indian laborers who send huge sums of expatriate earnings to their country of origin -- certain OIC countries do have leverage

though as long as indian labour is dirt cheap - it isn't in their own economic interest. Bluntly stated (and this is all hypothetical anyways) - it would be either a business decision or an emotional (MORAL) one

you may deny that crimes have been committed against Kashmiris - but that's your own prerogative. You can ban TV/internet/twitter/etc in occupied Kashmir - but that doesn't get you very far as far as awareness of ground realities is concerned

Pakistan's position is a principled one and the most viable.

Joke of the day! thanks for that one....

Keywords, Jaesh e muhammad, Lashker e toiba, Harkat ul mujhahideen, Harkat ul ansar, JKLF,

JeM, LeT, HuM and HuA are ALL banned organizations in Pakistan. They dont exist. However - there are individuals and groups in Kashmir/Pakistan that will NATURALLY resort to militancy when they see their brothers/sisters getting killed in the streets.

If an indian soldier killed a member of my family, i'd quit my job and leave everything to retaliate. Same applies to those persons. I think Kashmiris have shown incredible restraint - and it shows b/c militancy has gone down DESPITE the continued crimes against Kashmiri peoples.

JKLF is a Kashmiri organization, though its head - Yasin Malik - does have contacts in Pakistan. He is married to a Pakistani and he has linguistic/ethnic/religious ties to Pakistan as do most Kashmiris.

He was in Islamabad on a hungry strike when the occupation forces hung Afzal Guru (what was essentially a judicial murder)
