That was damn hilarious :D :omghaha: Twists and turns

I suggest you see this video in which our Muslim MLA Madani asks Musharraf to STFU and not interfere with the affairs of Muslims in India!

So I suggest you do the same too. The Muslims are doing just fine out here, but for the propaganda of shills especially some in Pakistan who are indulging in this so called anti-Muslim nonsense purely for propaganda purposes.

Modi and Juhapura: Fixing the lie

I’ve read often in social media conversations that the development in Gujarat is not inclusive and the most frequently quoted example of this is Juhapura. People have told me and others on Twitter often to “Go and have a look at the plight of Muslims in Juhapura before you say a thing about the so-called development in Gujarat.”

Recently when a municipal school was opened in Juhapura, there were many valid questions also about what took them so long. The last time I had this conversation with another twitter mate @BrownBrumby, this came up again and I said to him (and myself) that I could use the time while I’m in Ahmedabad to at least drive through the area and see what it looks like. I have no journalistic credentials or experience and no ‘Press’ marked vehicle, so I thought I’d look pretty conspicuous walking around with a camera bag and taking pictures. I decided to just take the car and drive around the area and take snapshots with a wide lens.

The signboard reads “Sare jahan se achha Hindustan hamara. Juhapura cordially welcomes you”. Did you notice the signboard has chipping paint and bent legs? Tcha! #BlowToModi

This is the four-lane road that passes through Juhapura. The white device you see at the bottom left corner of the photo is a geo-tagging device. This is so I can tag geographical locations on all the photos (in case someone thinks these pictures were taken somewhere else and wrongly marked as being from Juhapura).

Just driving through looking at the buildings around the place.

More poor neighborhoods (NOT) of Juhapura.

A community hall, a cheap hotel, a dental clinic, and a bit of crowd.
56.jpg

A physiotherapy clinic, a children’s hospital and a cyber cafe along the poor dwellings that are obviously sustaining tough living conditions (look at those balconies).

Another physiotherapy clinic, a tuition institute and a few shops.

Hey, there’s a school in Juhapura. Can you believe it? Also, they’re teaching in English and Gujarati medium, not Urdu!

Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus stop. You see all those numbers in the circular piece on the stand? They are the buses serving the area.

See, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation waste collection vehicles also roam around in the Juhapura area threatening the poor Muslims living there.

Some poor Muslim’s humble abode in Juhapura. The heart breaks, truly!

It is said that after 2002 there was a big surge of migration to Juhapura (if you call moving house within the same city ‘migration’). This has led to a massive property boom in the area.

More properties advertising to the target audience. By the way, who goes around in a green tall hat in India these days? I see the couple here doesn’t believe in ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’ but I like the fact that they are all for saving the girl child. Bravo to you, bro!

This poor chap’s bicycle had some problem may be. The strong little girl in a full Burqua is helping her carry the bicycle to the repair shop. She must be around 10-12 years of age I think.

More construction work advertised in the neighbouring Sarkhej area. The board of the Silverline Pathology lab below just got cut off the picture.

Al Muqaam construction site for residential properties.

Slums keep mushrooming in this area everyday it seems!

A community ‘drinking water’ service. By far this is the most life-threatening thing I’ve found in the area.

Finished my trip by praying at the Sarkhej Roza.
This by no means is a comprehensive look at the Juhapura area and if you look around with intention, I’m sure you will find things that won’t look as good in the pictures, like most places in India unfortunately.

There are more crowded places in the area where I wouldn’t bring a car, may be; after all Juhapura wasn’t settled yesterday. This is more than 600 years old Muslim settlement and not all areas are naturally amenable to urban planning.

Despite all this, Juhapura has done well and I must congratulate Haji Mirza, the Municipal Corporator of the area from Congress for this; and once more say — #BlowToModi.
