What's new

IAF has 220 Su-30MKI's in Active Service.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Until last year, multiple sources estimated the total in IAF service to be 160+. This, for instance:
168 Sukhoi Su-30 MKI Presently Flying In The Indian Air Force [IAF]

Has the batch of 40 ordered in 2007 been delivered? I thought that the batch confirmed in 2012 was the same 40 ordered in 2007, with the next batch of 42 super-30s awaiting confirmation. Therefore, a total of 272. Your link seems to suggest that the 40 ordered in 2007 have already been delivered, and that the order for the 42 supers have been placed in 2012.

There was a long drawn discussion about it a few months back - I think the 42 super SU's are among the 272 ordered.

Super Mod is requested to provide proof that HAL lied about the production 134 Mki's.

BTW why are you interested that whether IAF has 220 mki's or not.
;)

Stop being a kid about it.

220 Su-30MKIs? They'll give some headache to 50 JF-17s...

One we get something like 250 JF-17s, then dealing 270 odd Su-30MKIs would be a piece of cake.

I don't know why hindus are pilling up so much fighter jets. They are insignificant in the world. Nobody cares about them. Well, probably afraid of history. After they remained slaved of Islamic Powers for centuries and centuries..hehehehehe

only 100 mki are meant for the western border........rest are/would be placed in eastern borders.......

the super sukhois or the old ones ????

Dude,

For once, i don't believe that super sukhoi exist. There is SU-30 and there is PAK-FA/FGFA. If one insist on calling upgraded sukhoi's as super sukhoi then yes it is cost of latest tranche ie super sukhoi one.

Eastern borders? along Bangladesh? hehe

whatever, whether 100 or 270..indians can't match with PAF's ability to put as many aircrafts in air at one time as PAF can..

JF-17s would be more than enough to handle su-30s

i was calling them super sukhois bcoz only 42 mki's are going to get upgraded to a new standard not all.......so,the rest are going to be cheap????
correct me if i am wrong

Does this include 2 squadrons of fighter aircrafts that SFC was sanctioned to have ???

SUs in service till date as per Flight Global.com, World Air Forces, 2014 - 194.
Total on order by IAF - 272
All SUs would be upgraded to Super Sukhois with AESA radars among other state of the art avionics.

@anonymus

How much does the SU-30 cost India these days?
The earlier tranches all cost about $45 million. The latest tranche of 42 costs $100 million plus, which has led to speculation that they will be preconfigured for nuclear strike, and will go to the strategic force command. The SFC had put forth a need for 40 dedicated long range strikers for nuclear delivery, and coincidentally (or maybe not) the last order for MKIs was also 40. That cost a lot, but the SFC's requirement has not been heard of since, so...

Yes I know that it is incuded in the 272, because the total is expected to be ony 272. My question is whether the 40 ordered from Russia in 2007 have already been delivered or not. Multiple sources state that the total in service now is around 190, which tallies with 50 from russia and 134 from HAL.
