Angry India tells US 'times have changed' after diplomat spat

You also have to understand that US Department of Justice is not trying to save any American as the Victim/Maid herself is an Indian and so are her family members. And by doing so, the DoJ is actually upholding the laws of the land which comes first and championing human rights comes later.

They would not uphold the law of the land if it did not concern them , the Maid has been accused of theft of vital documents, mobile phones etc .... and even if they wanted to uphold the law the Maid would have been deported to India by July as she was an Illegal Immigrant and her Visa is canceled....i dont buy the whole human rights things

How come there's so much that has been said about a criminal who broke the US immigration laws as well as violating human rights to her and denying humane treatment to her own countrymen / women (the victim).
So no one in India cares about the inhumane treatment of the victim??? She's a woman too and went through a LOT of trauma before filing the complaint!! So we are to agree with the barbaric behavior and understand that itss allowed when it's done by an Indian person to another??

But when the host country's laws are broken....the local authorities can't take action as the "Indians" will be insulted? You guys should try to show mercy for the victim too.

This is what I've always said. The Indians are just after the US money and jobs. They are trying to climb over the American shoulders to look big and tough to the world. Of course, financed by our dollars and jobs we've sent them as we want to be friends......and THIS is the payback? No INDIAN or anyone should be able to violate human rights and break a friendly country's laws. PERIOD! Now show some courtesy and brain power here and act mature !! I can never understand why Indian guys are SO emotional like high school chicks!

Your last line sums up well ...you can never understand !

a lot has been said ...and discussed...did the maid approach the Indian court ? where is she ? and why she is hiding ?
Her whole family is working with varoius embassies...
Her father in law had worked in US embassy ...

She is well aware of US laws ..and she has made good use of those laws ...and taken you gus for free ride ....

You guys are stupid enough to jump the guns to defend the maid who has been the offender in first place ???

why did not US turn maid to India when there was warrant aginst her and her passport had been impounded ???
why US had to act as saviour to maid when there was nothing to save ...
US is a self obsessed hypocrite country ....

Get your dollars and get lost from our country...
we don't want to be freinds with country which is so self obsessed and selfish ....

when american ctitizen are involved in crimes overseas why do american peiple and their leaders act like high school chicks ???

aparently when Raymond Davis was arrested there was total shut down of pakistani embassy ordered by US ....

and haqqani was harrased and had ultimatems given and threatened and what not...

Go and ask your authorities why they acted like emotional high school chicks .....

Funniest is her ex IAS father playing the Dalit card for her well connected rich priviledged daughter in the USA!!!

Even her Scheduled Caste reservation quota alone was not enough for pursuing her foreign service career and she had to make fraudulent documents to go all way up to the ladder. I wonder how would Ambedkar himself have reacted to this case given the fact that she belongs to the same subcaste as Ambedkar did!

American court takes zero cognisance of Indian legal courts, of course! Whats there to complain here??? Besides the alleged crime took place in USA, their right to take action. The maid has also approached her country of residence and the country where crime took place - USA for help has she not???

Indian govt has removed security barriers from US embassy. And you blame US prosecutors for suspecting that the might of the indian state will be used to deny the maid justice - because she messed with the babu-politician-media alliance? Seriously?

Indians need to wake up and concentrate on real issues, instead of being driven like sheep to safeguard the interests of our rich fat rulers.

India should implement our laws strictly to US staff too, I'll fully support that. What I do not support is making this into an emotive issue and damaging India- US ties.

Let me repeat, the issue of a rich pampered yet ''dalit'' dimplomat with lots of govt gifted properties is priority ZERO for Indians. But the media, thats part of the same rich pampered ruling class and also receives lots of govt gifted properties is taking poor indians for a ride.

Star wars, please think about this more carefully.

If you argue that since crime took place in US so they should try the diplomat ....then why did not they hand over Richard Heddley to India ...since the crime he perpetrated took place in India ...

US is the most hypocrite country in this whole world...due to all the double standards it sets ...

Here was an american agent who was even after the crime travelling in and out of India with full knowledgew of US ...neither US informed India ...nor let us truly cross examine him ...nor extradited him to India despite the strong case for same ...

the 'type of woman' and punishing her is ultimately the responsibility of the Indian justice system. You don't seem have half the concern for the kind of damage in terms of national interests her arrest and detention there could bring. She knows everything from our nego positions to god knows what and you're just happy that the US can be a policeman to her 'crimes'? And we should overlook that coz she 'underpaid her maid'?

Oh the fallacy of the argument. She is an Indian - she will be punished only by the Indian justice system.

Let me tell you the serious crime she committed. Filing false visa charges with US government is warrants 10 years under U.S justice system and she committed this fraud while living in US. The only charge in India will be a civil charge which is contractual dispute between the maid and her.

Go to a U.S state department site - there is a warning - that U.S citizens need to behave in different countries and the local laws are applicable to them. So US is not a policeman here. They are very clear that the local laws are applicable everywhere.

The maid was not deported to India as the DoJ had to make sure the victim remains safe and sound till the final verdict comes out.

No- she is a diplomat and so she knows too much. I used to belive that your problem was being too concerned with the notion of 'equal treatment' - now I think you're just kooky.Your posts are full of homilies and completely unpragmatic.

For the record- I really don't care about the maid, more about the state.

Which part of my argument don't you understand ? She committed a crime in India and hence she will be punished here .. The crime she committed in the U.S is an entrapment and is not acceptable, of course..people like you will be intentionally ignorant of the facts about the whole case and keep peddling the American BS.....

Indian poster in here want to guilty

Everything you stated above just your personal opinion, you're entitle to your personal opinion on Clinton. Your accusation have no merit under US law. Just an accusation without any evident to back it up. Former President Clinton wasn't a god, he never claimed himself to be one, he was charge under US law and he was acquitted of all charge. You can't relate Clinton to the crime committed by the defendants. For one the defendant wasn't head of a state, don't compare a defendant to Clinton. She wasn't qualify to be a president of Ethiopia let along president of the US.

she is a diplomat of India...and is entitled to all rights a diplomat is conferred with under Vienna convention to which US has obligations to fullfill.

as far as Head of state is concerned....US authorities did not spare even our beloved President...he was frisked like an ordinary person...by your stupid staff !

This is a mark of US arrogance ....even that time US have had to apologise ....

and even now US will have to let our diplomat go ...

The Maid in question is the one who falsified the Visa despite having a separate agreement with the Diplomat . She was nice , dandy and happy for 7 months and dissapears for another 6 months were American govt. outright refuses to talk and then creates a Drama 6 months later....

Sigh - she is no one. She did not work in a mission where inter-governmental relations are handled but in a consulate handling visas and things related to people and business. So she would know squat.

And beyond that, you can think whatever you want about me and I do give a damn about it.

Don't bother , you are talking to a wall ... If they are blind enough to see the Entrapment then its just click on the ignore button...

US government didn't set a defendant up to commit the crime, no entrapment on the part of US government. US government didn't inform the defendant to falsify the visa application and later change the requirement on the application, in other to charge the defendant for the visa fraud. The visa application clear stated everything must be file truthfully or will be punish and held accountable for the fraudulent of the document. Stop the horseshit of entrapment which wrongfully charged the defendant for the crimes.

Oh...you, some random guy knows for sure what her role was...interesting

Lets agree to disagree here. Nothing to say beyond this.
