What's new

why a patriotic general turned unpatriotic...

i have seen some posts in forum labeling shahbeg singh as a traitor..so thought to post the story of the other side of the coin....please keep the discussion civil and dont bring bluestar ..or demand of khalistan or questioning the sikh loyality in the thread

No One has EVER brought Sikh Loyalty to their country under a scanner my friend!!!

I always considered him a traitor till a member named Joe Shearer told me what he went through and i researched a little bit to know the complete truth.

I respect him for being an exceptional soldier for India.

Can U point us to that thread so mate? It will be very kind of you!!!

To ur surprise Bhindranwale didnt ask for Khalistan

Ranvir ,everything U said is a right/10 , but sorry have to disagree on that one bro!!

This article should be published in mainstream media if its not published already. A great man like him is misunderstood by many...thats a real sad thing.

How the **** do I pronounce Ur Username? :P

Subject is good for discussion but I hate to see that there are a lot of false flaggers.:undecided: So a discussion in true sense is not possible.

And the false flagged trolls enter...

If your referring to me I suggest you stop tweeking and get on the methadone, while i agree that the Indian troops in Kashmir have a hard ordeal (sorry for going off topic) against foreign/some little domestic fighters reading reports of mass graves in a part of India where people "disappear" frequently is a bit disturbing.

1. It has been suspected that IA's devastating massive assault on the Golden Temple was mostly aimed at getting Sabegh Singh. He had proved his mettle by training and motivating Sikh youth resulting in general insurgency in Punjab. FYI, Sundarji, commanding the op became Chief after this terrible destruction where IA used 2 Divs +, tanks, etc. Arty guns bombarded the holy temple merrily, with FOOs trying to direct fire from top of the surrounding buildings of this heavily built area..

2. Op Blue Star showed Sabegh Singh's professional competence till the end. The defenders' weapons had been so well sited and integrated that only after heavy artillery bombardment could the point bn, 6 Gurads make some progress. But the bn suffered v heavy casualty.

3. GOI and Indira really panicked in the Khalistan uprising. Instead of going for a surgical op with political dose to back up, they just decided to ram the Temple down. Out flew the window all IA learnt and taught regarding fighting CQB or fighting in heavy built up area. It has been claimed by Khalistanis that both Sabegh Singh and Bhindranwalle were found in an underground cellar dazed, emaciated and almost senseless from the continuous heavy shelling and tear gas attacks. Having found what they were looking for, namely Sabegh Singh, Sundarji had him shot on the spot. Bhindranwalle suffered the same fate.

Good description.

But this whole fiasco was a "Karma" thingy for Indians.

Shahbeg and his goons killed 100s and 1000s of innocent people in E., Pakistan.

It didn't take long before Karma showed up at the door for everyone who conspired to spread violence against innocent people.

peace

We all agree you are disturbed and feel sorry for you. There are unnamed graves, NOT mass graves, and there are thousands of young cannon fodder missing in the neighboring country.

Thanks for your extraordinary intelligence yet again.

@FaujHistorian , fully agree with the karma part. For meddling in north east india you got bangladesh and for meddling in kashmir / punjab you are getting ... well - west pakistan. I'm happy to see you have an open mind about hindu religious concepts.

Could you repeat that in English? Your American is difficult to figure out.

Which heroes have we ever treated well? Sporting heroes? Military heroes? Shahbeg Singh served India well - he believed in the cause of India. What made him believe in the cause of Khalistan? Surely, no one wakes up and switches allegiance from a nation to a secessionist movement - what was the catalyst? Clearly, it has to do with our rotten political leaders.

Even if he fought with Bhindranwale,he ll always be a hero.

Thank for digging this out. I always read about Shabeg being a great soldier and his unceremonious exit was always perplexing. Even Brar in his book on 1984 tried to discredit Shabegh as a man with a dubious past. I am glad the other side of the story is talked about too.

Brar didn't say he was a traitor,he merely said he respected Shabeg saab a lot and that he saw him at the Harmandir saab and shabeg saab saw him too.

Bhindrawala was propped up by the Congress against the Akalis and when he became too vociferous in his demands, Indira tried to distance herself from him and branded him a militant. She might not have hated Sikhs but she surely didnt endear herself to the Sikh community by her actions. She was treating the Nirankari and other related issues as law and order problems and unwilling to address the political and social reasons behind them. This is a mistake still made by central govts too far removed from state issues and fed biased and politically motivated information in Delhi. For example, the Maoist issue.

she was indeed playing with fire.

He just had no choice.

Shabeg Singh was a true fighter and had the respect of the Army as much as VK singh is today.

why a patriotic general turned unpatriotic...?

It gotta have sth to do with toilets...

I told you!

Do U really want me to post the pictures of a Chinese mother facilitating her child to take cr@p on a Chinese Airport by putting a newspaper on the floor for him?

or
I have another one , a young Chinese dude , taking a cr@p on a moving metro as people look at him in disgust , Yes it happened in HK. on the main floor of the metro. and the picture goes with a sweet story too !!!

Thanks.

But please be open minded about the impact of Karma on India AND Pakistan.

Remember! Karma is blind to religion or region.

If Shahbeg Singh wakes up and switches allegiance from a nation then he is surely not the hero one has been lead to believe.

How many of you will believe Mahatma Gandhi would switch allegiance to the British because the congress treated him badly or even the public treated him badly?....or Netaji Subash Chandra Boss switch allegiance because the congress kicked him out ?

For that matter ...also think about how govt. hounded Dr. Subramanain Swamy and how he remains a patriotic Indian and fights for India. ..........what about Anna Hazare ?
