Turkish Space Programs

Cooperation between China & Turkey is good & important, as Turkey feel's strong for the Uighurs. But if the relationship between both countries is good, it will weaken support for the Uighur Independene Movement. Turkey will gain much more from China than from them.
To some extent China should work with India like this too, to weaken the Dalai Lama & his "Free Tibet"-Movement

With RASAT, Gokturk-1 and Bilsat projects, Most of satellite technologies, electronical units, image processors, data links, multi-band camera systems...etc developed...

After this period, The much more strategic systems worth million $ development budgets will join into domestic designs...

Aselsan EHF band and X band antenne and link: For cmmunication satellites (More than 100 million dollar development budget)
Tubitak HALE electrical propulsion system
Aselsan SAR radar: For sar satellite Goktuk-3
Aselsan SWIR IR detector for high resolution satellite cameras
1m and 0,5m resolution electrooptical cameras : Gokturk-4 and following variants

China should establish good relations with Muslims so supressing Uyghurs not a good move for China's benefits. China is being isolated by Western world and regional countries. Even India and Russia can be in axis camp against China in future. Only a stupid imagines that 10 million Uyghurs will gain their independence from China. Neither Turkey nor Uyghurs want it, we are just supporting Uyghurs for their natural rights nothing more.

Really do you think like that ? Our government allready keep in touch with China for that. We only want no kill is there and normally rights for people. If China would provide that we getting along much more probably. Thats all.

Chinese Rocket Lofts Turkish Earth Observation Satellite | Gokturk-2 | Space.com

PARIS — The Turkish government's ambitions to become a force in satellite Earth observation took a step forward on Dec. 19 with the successful launch, aboard a Chinese rocket, of the Turkish Gokturk-2 medium-resolution optical surveillance satellite.

Turkish officials said the 400-kilogram Gokturk-2, made mainly in Turkey but with an optical imager provided by South Korea, was safely in orbit at nearly 700 kilometers in altitude and had sent signals to a ground station in northern Norway.

The satellite was launched aboard a Chinese Long March 2D vehicle operated from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu Province. It was the 19th launch of a Chinese Long March rocket, all variants included, for 2012 — a year Chinese launch service officials had forecast would be particularly active for the rocket line.

Gokturk-2 is Turkey's second Earth observation satellite, following the small Rasat satellite launched in 2011 aboard a Russian-Ukrainian Dnepr rocket. [Best Rocket Launch Photos of 2012]

Rasat has a ground resolution of about 7.5 meters, meaning it can detect objects of that diameter and larger. Gokturk-2 has a 2.5-meter resolution and includes 15 gigabytes of image storage capacity.

Turkish Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun said before the launch that Gokturk-2 should be seen as an investment in high technology, and a signal of Turkey's determination to have its own, restrictions-free use of Earth observation imagery.

Turkey's defense forces have purchased another Gokturk satellite from Telespazio of Rome and Thales Alenia Space of France and Italy. This 1,000-kilogram spacecraft will be similar to the two French Pleiades satellites now in orbit, with a 70-centimeter ground resolution in black and white and 2.8 meters in color.

The satellite's development has taken longer than expected, and it is not expected to be launched before late 2014. Telespazio's contract, valued at 250 million euros ($325 million) when signed in 2009, includes establishing a satellite integration and test facility in Turkey as well as a Gokturk ground station.

Thales Alenia Space and Telespazio are thus doing for Turkey what rival Astrium Satellites of Europe is doing for Kazakhstan in providing a satellite, a training regime and an initial satellite test facility to a nation that has made clear it ultimately wants to be able to build satellites of its own.

The Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council and Turkish Aerospace Industries built Gokturk-2. Ergun said the entire Gokturk-2 project is valued at 140 million Turkish Lira ($79 million).

Turkish satellite set to send images

Turkey’s first Earth observation satellite, Göktürk-2, was expected to send its first images yesterday after being launched Dec. 18 in China.

The satellite passed over the Turkish capital of Ankara five times in its first 16 hours and will circle the globe 15 times a day, according to Tamer Beler, an official from the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey’s (TÜBİTAK) Space Technologies Research Institution.

The satellite reportedly works efficiently and has not experienced any problems so far, Beler said.
Connection is being held with the satellite through land stations located in Ankara and Norway’s Trömso, Svalbard islands.

The satellite, a joint development by TÜBİTAK and Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc, will mainly be used for environmental protection, mineral resource exploration, urban planning and disaster monitoring and management.

In the official site of Telespazio, there is a statement as follows:
"the Göktürk satellite will include a high-resolution optical instrument, similar to that used in the Pleiades program." page1 last paragraph

In the following page there is information about the Pleiades program.

‘Göktürk – I’ (2013) will have similar capabilities to satellite ‘Arirang-3’ of South Korea or ‘Pléiades-HR 1A’ (and ‘Pléiades-HR 1B’) of France.

Apparently, Göktürk has started to send images since the past four days.

The first ones are from USA, Brazil, India and Izmir/Turkey

Göktürk-2 görüntü vermeye başladı

İlk görüntüler, ABD, Brezilya ve Hindistan'dan gelirken, Türkiye'den ilk net görüntü ise İzmir'den alındı.

(...)
