Pakistanis and caste system

^ the funny thing I find is punjabis claiming to be descendants of arabs, persians afghans etc.... yet at the same time following caste/zaat system. They dont even know who there ancestors were, we have a serious identity crises in pakistan

(Sheikh) the famous and big zaat/caste in punjab were actually brahmin hindus before converting to Islam

caste and zaat is different.

Why do you not understand this yet?

the concept is the same, it's obvious where the influence has come from. if punjabis were decendants of arabs, persian, afghans, you wouldn't be following such a system

Dude you are not very educated in this manner.

I'm not saying Pakistanis are decendents of arabs, persians, and afghans.

If you want I can explain to you the difference between caste and zaat.

If you were arguing along the lines of 'Syeds' & us lesser mortals - I'd understand what you meant by that & I'd support your argument ! But 'Buttt' ain't a caste so much as it is an 'ethnic group', at least not in the manner the term 'caste' is taken to mean. Yes..we - the Buttts, are superior to almost every Pakistani ethno-linguist group out there because no one can match our culinary brilliance par kabhi fakhaar nahin kiyaaa ! :D

not really, so far genetic tests have shown no connection to arabia, only baloch have about 8-10% arab genes, but that's because arabs settled in balochistan in big numbers and mixed with the locals, punjabis, sindhis are not arab at all

Genetic tests show most Pakistani populations along with NW Indians having a noticeable "west asian" presence. As far the thread goes, with the exception of the special reverence given to "Syeds/Makhdooms" by some Pakistanis (usually in the rural areas"), i can not think of any "caste system" existing in Pakistan. So for e.g. when i went to school in my class we had Jatts, Gujjars, Rajputs, Arain, Kambohs (me), B'utts etc. but NOBODY was superior than the other. We were all immensely proud of our tribes but that does not mean that say my Rajput or Gujjar friend was higher ranked than me in some "caste system".

the west asian competent is very very old, even NW hindus/sikhs have those components. Infact sikh jatts are by far the most west eurasian in punjab, more so then hindu or muslims. You can tell that by looking at their faces. But that doesn't make punjabis from persia, arabia, turkey etc... as they keep claiming. They are native to the land and most of them were hindus or buddhists before they converted

I have noticed that many pakistanis, espeically in punjab are still following the caste system, my question is why? even so called religious mullahs are following the caste system specially in terms of marriage, the hypocrisy is unbelievable.

Aren't you a little too obsessed with Punjabis? :what:

There is a reason why Pakistanis are usually lighter than Indians. Pakistanis are Aryan (some indian states as well). That is why Pakistanis are lighter because Arab genes gave the Muslims a slightly lighter complexion.

It doesn't have anything to do with 'Arab genes'. Only a tiny fraction of Pakistanis -might- have descended from "Arabs"; the greatest majority didn't. Get over it.
We just happen to be slightly lighter than many Indians because we're closer to the Caucasus region.
