such projects are necessary Neo...LCA was a necessary expenditure and it is not a failed project. Without such projects India or any country will not be able to make its OWN a/c. No JV, no collaboration, a self produced aircraft like the F-22. For that u need to start somewhere and we have started at the LCA. And by no means is the project failed since no1 knows the status of the project. It may be a hit or a complete failure, but it was an attempt, thats what i am saying. If Pakistan too in the future wants to develop its own a/c, then it will have to start on its own and have to undergo tests and its own learning curve. And we are also exporting our defence products mate?....the INSAS system and BrahMos is gonna be a huge hit

Russian planes suck we seen that in the past arab+Israel war, and Afghan war, and wars with India, no offense but it's true, its the pilot behind the bird that matters in combat, but if u have people on ground killing each other (indian army) what can u expect from the air-force lol

what is meant by this is that the doomsday prediction that Russia is moving towards pakistan wont happen. Russia is still our ally and will supportus indirectly in war. Not directly...india nad pakistan are both nuclear...no nation would intervene.

I get your point bro, I never called LCA a totally failed project, its just overdue and by the time it ends the production line it will be entering age of obsolence.
But gained expertise is one thing you can't lose, it will help you overcome future hurdles.
Where as for Pakistan, we started the manufacturing era way later than India and we've still a long way to go.
Our main goal is to become an economic powerhouse first, technology will come gradually.
For the time being, we're just doing fine.
Like Asim already stated above, a decade ago no one was willing to sell us anything, now three super powers are lined up.

Instead we're totally focused on China, our only all weather ally.

Thats exactly what im saying mate. Every1 knows that the LCA is wayyyy long overdue and most prolly will be obsolete by the time it gets inducted, but the AF will take some in, use them, give feedback to HAL, and HAL which now has much much more experience will make stuff more to the requirement and faster. Thats how it starts. Thats how even the US started making fighters, one fail, two fail, maybe the third succeeds

One day Pakistan too will have to go exactly the same way and start. No project's a failure in the begnining. However if the US after working on a plane for 2 decades came out with something like the LCA, i would indeed call it a failure .
Thats true, a gd economy is the first priority of every nation.

China is growing mate, indeed at an impressive rate, but dont forget we are growing bloody fast too... China's interest atleast in the Indian Ocean Region cannot succeed till the time IN is there And no1 here is naive, we know that US is trying to get us into bed with them so that we can become a hedge to China in the future. So as long as US and India are there, China cannot exert proper influence in the IOR. We are growing simultaneously as China, we cannot be discounted by any margin

If FC-20 is2.5 gen a/c, then FC-20 will be the one to match MKI, not the f-16 blk 52. Nothing short of a blk 60 can even think of matching a MKI.

Specifics aren't available yet but my well placed sources told me it will have European avionics, radar and armament and will be powered with WS-13A with TVC!!!
It will definately be a gen 4.5 fighter!

and what do u think India is doing while u induct Erieye?? Phalcons on their way baby . One of the most advanced AWACS that currently exists . It is far superior to the Erieye. Supposedly can jam an Erieye . China tried to buy the Phalcon from Israel but US denied China I believe there was a discussion about AWACS in here that proves what i say. Let me search for it.

i doubt Pakistan has anything planned as of now to counter that threat.
Pakistan simply chose the best of what was on offering at the time. And Phalcon is superior to the rest.
Maybe in the future there could be something. Not to forget there is an indigenous AWAC programme going on in India, they will also take flight soon hopefully.
