DRDO to be build next Generation Phalcons AEW&C for IAF

First thing don't answer me if u don't read my full post:

Bhai I've read your complete post before posting but replied you for the part I didn't found correct.

Secondly, Brother the only thing thats stopping IAF from procuring Phalcon awacs is the sudden sharp increase in prices otherwise they would have done it long time back:

If prices IAI are asking is more than What their product can deliver then there is no point is buying more units especially when DRDO has the capability to make similar platform as there is no urgency right now.

the reason i said dire need was currently we have only 3 awacs n if one of them down for repairs or any other purposes then we will be left with only 2 of them n that won't be sufficient for IAF

Even we don't know much about the smaller awacs that DRDO has been making as it will take nothing less than 2015 for it to become fully operational n it won't take them 5-7 years(considering their past record) for a fully developed 360 degree awac that would mean atleast 2017-18

Whereas our opponents r continuosly increasing there awacs pakistan will soon be operating 8 awacs let alone china

So what do u suggest we do in the mean time just keep on waiting for DRDO to do some miracle like they have been doing with tejas, kaveri n what not:argh:

Read my previous post.....

Leave the rest of your post first tell me why we are we in a dire need of A POTENT AWACS ?? AWACs is not just a big radar riding on the back of a lumpy plane capable of intercepting and tracking aerial targets its a system which is instrumental in having a well coordinated C4I army . And I am sure you are completely aware of our Army's current C4I capability.
Not to mention the other system needed to bulid too like high number of UAVs , Battle field radars , reconnance equipment yadda yadda yadda.

AWACs is a key to a potent network centric army it hardly matters how many AWACs our adversaries are buying untill our ground forces are not capable enough to take advantage of an AWAC then there is no point in buying more as of now. Aircrafts in high altitude or where ever can still detected by Ground based radars and not to mention our powerfull flankers but the point where you really need AWAC is when you need a platform which can do all the jobs along with helping the ground forces. I personally think if the cost increase is really lot then there is no harm in waiting for 7-8 years and see what DRDO develops .

Read my next post, post no.43 on this thread u will get my answer

@jackhammer2
futher don't mix Awacs with C4I ofcourse they help in C4I but awacs r generally used by airforce n its an airborne radar system designed to detect aircraft at long ranges and control and command the battle space in an air engagement by directing
fighter and attack plane strikes.
Used at a high altitude, the radars on the aircraft allow the operators to distinguish between friendly and hostile aircraft hundreds of
miles away.

Plus Indian army is still developing its C4I system its no where so much developed that we can scrap awacs n behalf of C4I

I'm not suggesting in scraping AWACsin favour of C4I what i'm suggesting is to give DRDO a little bit time so that comeup with their own 360 design till the time Army's network centric program materialises.

Plus AWACs are still new for IAF they will take their own sheer amt of time in mastering their ability to fight with the help of AWACs guiding them.

AWACs not just a flying air traffic control but also a key to have a complete Network centric army and our Army's C4I systems aren't good enough to make use of these systems so whats the hurry??? Air targets can be picked up by Ground based radars and 3 Phalcons are somewhat good enough to Fight Pakistan not China. If Phalcons are becoming really expensive then we can wite for DRDO's AWACS to become operational and till then spend more on the production or accuasition of some other system.

What is the point of a chain of such troll threads when we all know DRDO can't build previous generatin tejas and kaveri?

these kind of threads may satisfy hurt ego of indian memebrs but don't add any value to this forum.

you should be rather concerned about your horrible spelling

Firstly, even if u we go by ur way n wait for DRDO to come up with something n if god forbid the awac doesn't come out as expected by IAF then we'll have to wait for further 4 years for israel to deliver phalcons that would mean a total delay of 11-12 years:argh:

Secondly, do u know that IAF is operating Phalcons since 2009 its already 3-4 years how much more time do u expect they will take to master awacs

N if they still havn't been able to fully utilize awacs they already have then why r they so eager to buy more...:undecided:

Can anyone tell me what kind of AWAC is Navy is interested in Can Yak 44 program be started again?

does this picture add some value to ur brain??

Phalcons r good enough to take on anything that china currently has on table

N do u know so useful is the advantage of command and
control from a high altitude,
the United States Navy
operates AEW&C/AWACS aircraft off its Supercarriers to augment and protect its Carrier
Command Information Centers
(CICs)

Ofcouse ground radars can pick up aircraft but have u read the full form of AWACS correctly i.e. Airborne early warning and
control system u wouldn't have asked such a question:wave:

I'm not saying there is no shortage of this system but what I was suggesting is that Indian armed forces is very big and to be effective big forces needs big fundings too. However in our case we need to spend wisely hence if IAI is asking more for the Phalcon than they can deliver then waiting for DRDO to complete its project won't be such a bad move.

Anyway there is no point in arguing on this as what I think even with elevated cost IAF will go for atleast two more units of Phalcons in the future and DRDO AWACs will follow then.

IN was mainly interested in US platform, Hawkeye.

As far as I know IN is already using Ka-31 fitted with E-801 M as AWAC's role. aren't they satisfied with it ???
