Incredible India facts and figures

and for my mascow brother how is basically indian.thanks buddy for apperciation and i have given percentage beacuse if out of 100 people 20 can drink clean water and other side out of 30 people 18 can drink clean water than as per size first is better but in fact second has more quality more people are staisfied its simple mathematics 1+1

first of all i am not indian but my parents are of indian origin.<i stated that on my introductory post > let that be clear.my nationality has no effect on my opinion.
yes i still did not get the point of simple mathematics. % values are good fine for theoritical reading and data collection. now % values only matter if the sample size is equal unlike this case of providing clean drinking water is a mass program and it must reach the highest number of people.
also how can the sample of providing clean drinking water come down to quality. clean drinking water is universal there is no quality in this might be the infrastructure qualities involved but not quality of water if the quality is bad then its not suitable for drinking at all so it does not even come into the consideration.

by your own saying its true that the total number of people having the option of clean drinking water is greater in india than in pakistan but if you want to see market penetration then its higher in pakistan than in india . so there is no question of superior or inferior. right

thanks[/QUOTE]

Ok that’s good you have read it. Let me try again to explain to you. Take example of hmmm Switzerland. It has very less area than Russia o.k. if you say that Russia has more roads in terms of distance but not able to fulfill the requirement of the people. But Switzerland has less roads as compare to Russia but enough for there people. So than how you can compare both countries. You will take percentage to compare I hope you got my point.

2. Although Indian economy has grown steadily over the last two decades, its growth has been uneven when comparing different social groups, economic groups, geographic regions, and rural and urban areas.[7]Wealth distribution in India is fairly uneven, with the top 10% of income groups earning 33% of the income

yes the growth is uneven its true its because the growth in economy did not go along with the growth in education. top 10% earn the 33% because they are better educated and skilled its no secret that in a competitive world the skilled person will dominate and the unskilled will fall away.
what does this show it shows that those indians who got better education and better infrastructure for development they excelled in their respective fields this proves that with proper education and management the potential for an average indian is so high that it can surpass the ordinary indians in income.
where is the negative point in these. yes the growth has not benifitted all why because the average did not work hard ar did not aim high, or did not get proper oppurtinity or the standards were so high they could not match up.
isnt it good that only those who put their efforts in along period of time they should enjoy better facilities

tell me something a student who goes to school everyday studies everyday and does this far a long period of time shouldnt he enjoy better facilities than a student who does not go to school does not ever study never put in a hard work.
yet will you demand equal benefits from the state for these students.

thanks

i give post all the points one by one.

yes you compare that way fine but according to the above example how do
you judge whether you are able to fulfill the requirements of its people or not.
may be one road might be enough for the russians and they are using it to a potential of 80% where as switzerland has 3 roads where they are using it to 20%,15%.10% respectively.
how do you think which progam will be deemed more succesful the russians or the swiss.
why does the efficiency question come up its because it raised it wihile talking about the quality of drinking water in your previous post.
the point is % data has not connection in judging the efficiency of a study.

Wow Moscow now I am confused who you are. What is the relation of India and Russia with you? What you are saying is total opposite to communism and your flag and nick is Moscow. So I was right you are Indian because a Russian can never give this type of excuse and logic which they believe like a religion. Sorry man you are busted. I have all my doubts

you have no idea about it just talk about the thread.
russia is no longer a communist country remember that. maybe you dont know

you cannot get me agitated by your coments i am too mature for it. come back when you can prove your data and stop attacking me personally

you talk about busting tell me who is busted with in this thread.

Come on cant you understand one simple thing still you are roaming on same thing. its just simple that how many people can use it out of how many why cant you understand this simple point. if this is your sate of discussion than sorry bro i have to go now i thought you will give some good logics but you cant understand simple mathematics I am not here to teach you nether I have time for this.i am leaving just because of this quotation I hope you can understand it” never argue with an idiot it will drag you down to his level and than beat you with experience

1-you want to know who i am check my profile.
2- what is the relationship between me and india i tell you that i have not forgotten that some of my ancestors came from there i have not forgotten their culture and education they have given me unlike you when you have stated that pakistan started from zero in 47
3-yes you think russians are stupids they cannot come up with certain logic i advice you to check the history and see for youeself how many great people were born here and what were thier contributions.
4-you talk about my religion yes communism is a religion fine only people like you think lise this communism does not believe in religion.
5-its not me its your agenda that is busted

mods :- sorry for this personal post but he has being repeatedly attacking me personally without provocation.

yes i got your point why dont didnt you answer my question whose program is deemed more successful, the swiss or russians.

yes the truth is : 1...how many can use it and how many cannot.
2......how many people can use it out of how many --- that also is important and needs to be considered.what also needs to to be considered is
3...how many can use it out of how many and how many is actually using it out of the total who can use it.

therefore a study needs these three points of consideration.
consider all the 3 points in your study and then prove your data.

what i am saying is also very simple why are you not understanding. i am stating that your study is true but more points need to be incorporated and answered before you claim the results to be true.

i shall wait for you till you explain your results. i do not mind you calling me idiot because i am an idiot otherwise i wont be conversing with you.

thanks good night my friend .

waiting for your post.

no hard feelings or "heart" feelings here same its a discussion and nothing more.
your points sounded rational that is why i wanted to discuss with you, anyways enjoyed it.

i respected all the opinions in this forum as i do yours.thats the main point.

thanx

to prove my point i will give another example from the same thread the very first point in this it is clearly shown the data is given both in actual numbers and in percentages.
everyone can notice that the world bank data quoted in this thread is given as 828 million or 75.6%

why is it not quoted only in numbers or in figures but both?

similarly in other points the data is given only in % form so the study is incomplete .
all of us can now see what i am trying to say.

1. In India 828 million people, or 75.6% of the population, live on less than $2 a day, compared to 72.2% in Sub-Saharan Africa.[
The World Bank further estimates that fully one third (33%) of the world's poor reside in India.
According to the latest (as of December 2008) World Bank estimates on poverty, based on 2005 data, 256 million Indians, or 41.6% of the country's population, survive below the updated international poverty line of $1.25 (PPP) per day.

thanx

where are the hospitals that you have built, where are the new roads. airports, schools, universities, where are the new maternal healthcare plans, what are the plans for higher education, where are the new medical technologies.
They wont build hopsitals, roads, schools, universites etc. But they will build 'world class' terrorist training camps to "cut and bleed" Inidia into several pieces. And if they need any treatment they will come to India.
This is just an example to show how pakistani patients are welcomed in Indian hospitals.

Here is another story. "Pakistanis in India for treatment missing".
well they may be some where in India "cutting to bleed" India.;)
Pakistanis in India for treatment missing-India-The Times of India

An Indian Eye blinks in Pakistan
15-month-old Mohammed Talha from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, looked at his parents for the first time in his life in Chennai, India, he was seeing them through the eye of an Indian, a 61-year-old woman old enough to be his grandmother.
"When my son sees the world around him in Pakistan, it will be through the eye of an Indian. Similarly, all the barriers between India and Pakistan should go. There are no differences between us," said Talha's mother, 23-year-old Kanwal Shahzad.
Talha, Kanwal and Khuram Shahzad's first child, was born blind; four of Shahzad's cousins and the son of a cousin are also blind. With Pakistan's medical fraternity unable to help, the distraught parents lost hope.
Then, Kanwal's father, a businessman based in Dubai, got in touch with Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital in the United Arab Emirates. They told him to get in touch with the main hospital in Chennai. When Khuram Shahzad, a businessman based in Rawalpindi, did that, the Chennai hospital asked him to come down immediately.
Dr Amar Agarwal Many of their relatives were not happy with the young couple's decision to bring their child to India. "We were not sure whether we would be welcome in India. We were scared," Kanwal admitted frankly.
The visas were issued within a week, but the family was forced to delay their trip as the Lahore-Delhi bus was fully booked for a month. Finally, on December 14, Talha and his parents reached Delhi by bus and then flew to Chennai.
Dr Amar Agarwal, director of the eye clinic, examined Talha and found him blind in both eyes. The scan showed the cornea was white and the iris was stuck to the cornea. The only hope, Dr Agarwal concluded, was either an eye transplant or a corneal transplant.
As luck would have it, at two in the morning on December 23, the hospital received a phone call from one Venkatesh, informing them that his 61-year-old wife Maragatham had died and it was her wish to donate her eyes. An ambulance rushed to his house to collect the eyes before the last rites were performed.
Talha was operated upon the following day. The operation started at 8 am and lasted four hours. "We had to dissect the cornea from the iris and implant the fresh cornea. It is a very complicated process," Dr Agarwal explained.
The next day, the doctors removed the bandages that had covered Talha's eyes since the operation. The child began crying, but when he saw his mother for the first time in his life, he stopped crying. "I cannot say what I felt then. It was an overwhelming experience. Our joy knew no bounds. Our son saw us for the first time. We had left everything to the doctors and to God," said Kanwal, searching for words.
Talha with his mother, KanwalNow, Talha knows whom to smile at and whom to make faces at. If a lady in a white coat comes to his room, he knows she is there to give him an injection. He does not like the needle one bit so he refuses to smile at her. But if someone dressed in coloured clothes enters his room, he is confident the visitor is there to take him out for a stroll. He also enjoys imitating others.
Talha will be on anti-rejection drugs for at least a couple of months and the Shahzads have been asked to return for a check up after six months and, if possible, an operation on the left eye. His right eye now has a vision of around three metres (10 feet) and the glasses he has to wear have a power of +10. "As he grows old, his visibility will definitely improve," said a satisfied Dr Agarwal.
He added that India is very advanced in the field of ophthalmology. "Till now, patients from Pakistan found it difficult to come here; the only route was via Dubai. With the resumption of road and air links, it will be a lot easier for Pakistanis to come to India for treatment. I would say Talha is going to be the goodwill ambassador for India and Pakistan as an Indian eye is going to blink in Pakistan."
The family is fulsome in its praise for India. "We never knew Indians were so nice and loving. Only politicians fight, ordinary people don't. The family that donated the eye visited Talha and bought him lots of toys. They were so good. We are going back with such wonderful memories," said a visibly happy Kanwal.
Back in Pakistan, the family's relatives, who were initially apprehensive about the travel to India, are so excited that one of Shahzad's cousins now intends to take his six-year-old, who suffers from the same congenital defect, to Chennai for treatment.

May be Nagas and Agoris. Their life style is scary and very intersting to listen. This group lives near himalayas and very small in number. they only visible for public every 12 years when holy ganga bath happens.

These ppl practice and believe total different cocept of life than a hindu. These ppl never marry, never rape anyone. They practce long years to live without cloth. This group normally adopts small kids to train new. Very rarely ladies found in the group.

very silent and harmless ppl. i can write more if ur open minded. Again these ppl dont have any significance in hinduism.

Hey man frankly I thought some thing like that would happen only in African jungle or amazon however finding it in India is already incredible to me. So let me get this straight, you guys know who are they and where they live yet allow them to come out naked every 12 years in public. What stopping you guys to put them in a mental facility?

If they aren't part of Hinduism than why would them come out at ganga bath. Isn't taking ganga bath a Hindu ritual.

please shed some light for us.........

3. Although it is difficult to count the total number of prostitutes, or sex workers, latest estimates show that there are some three million in the country, an overwhelming majority in the 15-35 year group. Among these are growing migration and poverty, political instability, erosion of traditional values, desire to earn easy money, globalization and declining job opportunities for uneducated and unskilled youths. Prostitution growing in India, says survey-India-The Times of India
4. it was thought that around 5 million people were living with HIV in India - more than in any other country.
5. The rapid decline in inflation reinforces the impression that the Indian economy is slowing sharply after the economic boom in recent years. Some economists are predicting that the growth rate will be cut in half in 2009.
Interest rates are also expected to be cut further to stimulate growth. BBC NEWS | World | South Asia
6. With a population of well over 1 billion people, India is the second most populous nation in the world. According to UN-HABITAT, India is home to 63% of all slum dwellers in South Asia. This amounts to 170 million people, 17% of the world’s slum dwellers. As India continues to develop its infrastructure and tries to compete economically with the West, it is important that its poorest citizens are able to work together with government to ensure pro-poor development. i shall try to give a point by point analysis.

first point> data is correct 75.6% live on less than dollar 2 per day compared to the sub-saharan region. fine
how much can 2 dollars buy in india and in sub saharan in india for example you can have a course meal a day for 2 dollars is it possible in saharan countries, what is thecost of a bread in sahara and what is the cost of a bread in india?
so 2 dollars needs to be viewed in terms of local currency and the purchasing power right.
The World Bank further estimates that fully one third (33%) of the world's poor reside in India.----obiviously look at the total population i guess it is more than the sub -sahara combined.

2nd point > given on my previous post.

3 rd point;-number of prostitutes on the rise obiviously as per the points given lack of education, low level of skill, poverty, globalization
its true why wont be with the number of people so high there is more compeetition, there is no place for the ordinary or good you have to be excellent, but you see people are globan citizens they still want to earn more money there is no other way than this shortcut. why work hard and study and train in skills when there is so much competition they eay way out for the unskilled and uneducated is prostitution. its the worlds oldest proffesion and it cannot be irradicated in full, practically.
again this data needs both the total number which is given as 3 million but there is no percentage both of it is necessary for a proper evaluation.

4- it was thought that around 5 million people were living with HIV in India - more than in any other country
its not a data its an idea or thought there is no analytical study so irrelevant.

5- growth rate slowing down in recent times.
well very good which countries of the world as predicted will have an increase in growth rate in 2009 is the question. almost all world economies are slowing down. the important thing is comparison with other major economies by how much is it slowing down.? no relevant data on this yet its a prediction.comapre the data with the worlds top ten economies then we can say something concrete.decrease in inflation is it good for thr ordinary man or is it bad? i guess its good.
so again the point becomes irrelevant.

6-> population problem and slum dwellers 63% in south asia its obivious because it has the highest number of people as well as geographical size where are the numbers for the other countries of south asia.
out of more than 1 billion 170 million where are the data for the rest of the world for comparison.
17% of total slum dwellers what is the total number of people in % does india contribute to the world population.?
dosent this big population of slum dwellers provide a big human resource for unskilled labour. ?
how many of these slum dwellers are starving to death that is the question.?
so data needs to be looked in different perspectives.

thnx:cheers:

we cant deny one thing that indian economy has improved considerably. its expected to be 2nd largest economy by 2050. however so far that trickle down effect which the gov must have been expecting to take place is still to happen.

perfectly put.
but that trickle down effect is also to be seen more and more these days....
but some of the states are quite lagging in development areas due to messy politicians.
anyways, I am happy that south-indian states are leading development in india, along with gujarat(modi?!!!) and punjab(khalistan???!!)....
