Abrams tank trying to crush a Mig-25

"MiG25 Foxbat" One of my favorite machine.. Lets me present some of its Iconic incidents...

1. On 6 November 1971, an Egyptian MiG-25 flying at Mach 2.5 was met by Israeli F-4Es and fired upon unsuccessfully.
2. A MiG-25 was tracked flying over Sinai at Mach 3.2 during this period. The MiG-25 overspeeded its engines, which led to their later destruction
and this one is best
3. In yet another incident, two MiG-25s approached a pair of F-15s, fired missiles (which were evaded by the F-15s), and then outran the American fighters. Two more F-15s joined the pursuit, and a total of 10 air-to-air missiles were fired at the MiG-25s, although none reached them

Indian MiG25
1. The MiG-25 was kept a guarded secret in India, and was nicknamed Garuda,

This ine may not be liked by My pakistani frnds, But this is awesome...

In May 1997, an Indian Air Force Mikoyan MiG-25RB reconnaissance aircraft created a furor when the pilot flew faster than Mach 2 over Pakistani territory following a reconnaissance mission into Pakistan airspace. The MiG-25 broke the sound barrier while flying at an altitude of around 65,000 feet, otherwise the mission would have remained covert, at least to the general public. The Pakistan Government considered the breaking of the sound barrier was deliberate to make the point that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had no aircraft in its inventory which can come close to the MiG-25's cruising height (up to 74,000 feet)

Hi,

Thank you for that post----I don't think that you know that we had a gift from uncle sam that could fly at an altitude of 80000 ft before the 1971 war---we didn't utilize that altitude---but paf did fly over india without any discretion---it wasn't a show piece---but it flew over india 25 years before the mig 25 did over pakistan---.

What was it ? A U2. Did PAF had the authorization to use U2.

what a waste- do US really had to destroy such a beautiful flying machine?-

RIP to the fighter plane-

It was already destroyed by burying up in sand.I think the US find it much easier to crush it so that it can be transported easily to some scrap yard.

i might be wrong, but wasnt the Iraqi Air Force the 5th biggest sometime during the 90's when Saddam was in power?
It was probably the 4th largest in the world and was among the best in Asia.

Burying those jets in the sand is probably worse than dumping them into the ocean. They'd have to be stripped 100% to its individual components, and each of those would have to be cleaned completely.

The jets were mostly scrap the moment the Iraqis began to bulldoze them. They may have salvaged a couple of them, but the cost to fix them is more than they are worth.

Like i said, you could've put them up for auction....plenty of Jet heads out there with the money to restore this bird!!

It was buried with some protected netting i guess- to be used in future- it was destroyed when the amrikans tried to dig it out- they should have excavate it properly and carefully :D-

Only a handful of Iraqi pilots were actually 'qualified' for combat.

According to some analysts, Saddam didn't intend to see his troops to be well-trained or overall - a well rounded force. This was due to his fear of any future coup. A lot of his most senior officers were promoted for loyalty rather than merit. The man used cult personality.

Dictators are always a curious and a paranoid bunch. It is sad to see an entire army obliterated just because of the ego of one man.

No wonder why Iraqis hated him so much after the first Gulf War.

Undoubtedly, Saddam Hussien is one of the most iconic dictators.
Bro, this is not the case.

Iraqi military was at its best during 1990s since independence. As is the case with many Asian militaries; some units were basic and some were elite.

Thing is that after the debacle of Vietnam; US military doctrine was revolutionized. According to the new doctrine; emphasis was less on manpower and more on technological superiority to ensure minimum casualties. This was dubbed as STAR WARS approach.

US knocked out most of the Iraqi communications, and command & control systems during the early days of the conflict; The Persian Gulf War 1991. This action put the Iraqis in a blank state. They could not coordinate their counter-offensive moves effectively.

For what? Its an outdated damaged plane. No use for Americans or in that case Iraqis.

4th Largest-Maybe, Best in Asia- I doubt that

They even had a hard time countering undersupplied, depleted Iranian AF during Iran Iraq War let alone USAF.

Well this proves that quantity, valor, self sacrifice, courage and all other such type of BS is nothing compared to technological superiority.

Those who said that pen is mightier than the sword has not met the machine gun-Gen. George Patton.
