Tejas undergoes weapon trials

still in trails waste of money of indian tax payers
jf-17 thunder is now operational which born after tejas

after all its INDIAN tax payer's money na?
its our lose and we shall suffer it.

no one has asked about jf-17 here.

Oh MY bad,. It was an R-73 not an R-77... Any Idea when it would happen?

A2A weaponry is fired only in the end phase of FOC, of which the last is the firing of the gun onto a target aircraft or a ground target. That heralds the FOC of the aircraft. But seems like the Tejas has already entered series production as the IAF wants to start testing squadron level and ground maintenance ASAP.

Is BVR integration that much problem?

By firing R-73, missile departing from jet is fine.

It is more to do with Avionics part, data link etc for BVRs...

JF 17 was already developed by chinese (even chinese not using it now :p)....
U didnt start anything from scratch as we did....
Yet it s technologically superior than JF 17

Please do your own research and find your own links, only in elementary school do teachers hand-hold and spoon-feed information.

I'll guide you this time, but only this time. If you want published/official info on the current JFT armament - what you need is AFM(AirForces Monthly), a very famous UK-based combat aircraft magazine carried a suplement with info about the JF-17. It also detailed which weapons have been integrated, and which are planned to be integrated. So much so that many on this forum were questioning whether the British magazine had been provided too much inside intel. The active-radar missile is SD-10-B, the third modernization/generation of the SD-10(first SD-10 got made, then SD-10A, then -B). In typical Chinese fashion, they develop a base product and then refine and modernize it, like J-10A, B. The missile also China's main AAM on their other frontline aircraft, and western sources consider it to be at par with slightly older generations of US AIM-120 AMRAAMs, specifically, AIM-120C which was first inducted by the USAF in 1996.

And the Heatseeker missile is PL-5C. Both these missiles are alleged to have been inspired by Israeli Python and Derby tech, as China was buying alot of Israeli radar&seeker hardware until 2002 when Uncle Sam objected. It is alleged that Israel still provided things under the table after that. Plus, Pakistan has also bought Brazilian MAR-1 for SEAD/long-range anti-SAM missions a while back, that may or may not have been integrated yet.

The forum would be dead if we follow your suggestion .

Nope - the level of discussion on this forum would be much more well-informed and civilized, if people tried to inform themselves and did research first, rather than insisting that other people do it for them.

So has the JF 17 fired an SD 10/ PL 12? If so...any source or picture?

if anything like this is available then it would be helpful.

LCA Mk1 limitations
Low Thrust
Limited AoA
High Cost
Limited Weapon Load
Maximum g-limit 6g
Not all weather

Dont worry Indians, we developed it after long break unlike China developing for our dear .
The above limitations would be cleared b the time we get FOC/Mk2 gets first flight .
