Unbelievably intricate Temples (Must see!!)

south india & east asian countries have some massive great temples. in north india there is hardly any great ancient temple.

North India bore the brunt of numerous invasions, but lets not go there, will derail the thread for sure.

Guys, lets not make it a vs thread. so lets continue on seeing these wonders and not concentrate on this vs that

World’s Richest Temple is in India.

As of present (and still actual figures are unknown) The Richest Temple in the World is "Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple" in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala State in India when a hidden treasure worth billions of dollars was discovered in this south Indian temple few weeks back. The value of the treasure that was found inside the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple was estimated to be around US$26.76 billion. The treasure and valuable that was discovered are assumed to have been in the temple for hundreds of years.
The available (still unknown) assets value (still increasing since 2 more secret chambers to be opened) at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple will be a minimum of 120000 Crores Indian Rupees.

Very nice pics. btw.... I think we should not waste money on building on worship places, if we need to make 'god' happy... we should serve the humanity...

P.S. My same views are for mosques, so please do not take it negative, for my views about mosques you can visit my thread 'Too many mosques'.

Though I agree with the point you are making, the foremost reason for creating art in the ancient world was religious. 'God' was the biggest force that could move people to create incredible things. Apart from that, Hindu temples also served as shelters during times of emergency and also as a record of history.

That said, I am totally repulsed by the excesses of today's God men and building of outrageous monuments in the name of God. Eg. The golden temple in Tamil Nadu (A monumental kitsch)

Golden Tempe is actually covered with Gold leafs (as per Abingdonboy)

loads of gold if they were in pakistan would have planned a robbery here for sure

Well, there is belief in our place that one who steals God's property will meet a terrible end. This deters many would be robbers. I read in an article that Afghanisthan is in mess because their forefathers ransacked temples, stole their wealth and carried away back to AF. This was meant as a sarcasm in that particular article but looking into their history it seems right as from the medieval ages right upto now AF has known no peace and future also looks bleak for the country.
