Blast in Peshawar Cantt - Super Mrkt

There is a problem i see in Pakistan which was never there in any other country to this extent. The forces that are fighting these terrorists are themselves confused whether they want to act against them or not. To some they still are valued assets that can be used against India while to others they are a threat to national identity. So, long as this Good Bad concept goes on, this mess will continue to harass and the day when the country becomes fully commited to execute their anti-terror plan, only then they will see some progress.

A perfect example of this hypocracy and why the US is upset with Pak.

When comparing this problem to India or Sri lanka or for that matter any other country one should realize the establishment that was figting them as well the political elite were always one on the issue and never radicalized.

I think the first & the second of your points have become heavily intertwined. Some still view some of these groups as strategic assets & when that is questioned because of the actions of these groups, the dilemma posed in your second comment emerges. If you decide they are not strategic assets but actually constitute a threat, the logical follow up would be take them on which is not an appealing idea for many reasons, not the least being the fear of Pakistan being swallowed up in a full blown civil war. That forces the hands of the authorities who have to forcibly continue to consider these groups strategic assets. A bit like riding a tiger. Can't afford to get off because you are not really convinced that you can take on the tiger & decide that you are in for the ride till some future date when you think you might be able to face up to the tiger who in the meanwhile is eating up your family & friends & growing ever stronger making the thought of getting off an even more unpalatable idea. Pakistan is now clearly caught in a trap & with absolutely no easy way out.

Nothing is easy, but it doesn't mean Pakistan does not have the means or the will to deal with the problem. India has appreciatively managed to eradicate many of its problems because it knew what needed to be done. The identification of the problem is the most important thing, & once that has been clarified, the threat will be tackled with effectively & eliminated. The only tricky part is that a huge part of the problem lies in the safe havens of Afghanistan as well, & it requires the US to take incisive action that aids the situation in Pakistan, not endangers it. Pakistan cannot control what happens in Afghanistan, only the US & NATO Forces can. Pakistan is currently working on 'damage control' on its Western borders. After all, what can Pakistan do when 500+ Afghan terrorists infiltrate into Pakistan with absolutely no resistance. So it is a tricky situation, but once the US leaves the region, Pakistan will need to identify the problems inside Pakistan, & will be in a much better position to deal with the threats coming from Afghanistan.

Nothing is uncontrollable, the terrorism in Sri Lanka for example went on for more than two decades in full force. Sri Lanka eventually got through it. There are many such other examples in other countries as well. The PKK in Turkey were a brutal force as well. India had more terrorism from 1994-2005 than what Pakistan has had from 2001-2011, but India has overcome many of its problems as well. It was because the Indian leadership for the most part has made right decisions. While Pakistan is much better equipped than Sri Lanka to deal with its threats, Pakistan's stability depends on the right kind of US/NATO Forces actions in Afghanistan, thanks to the bloody goddamn porous western Pakistan-Afghanistan border. As of now, it seems to me that there is nothing Pakistan can do to influence the situation in Afghanistan to improve its own situation, as long as the US Forces are there, so it is looking at 'damage control'.

1 Srilanka is a smaller ountry as compared to pakistan.
2. There was a big role of New Delhi related to the wiping off talim tigers and all kind of support was provided to lanka by New delhi .
3. Srilanika is surrounded by water so there is no actual border sharing with any other country.
4. Pakistans problem is internal and lies in the heart of the most destabilised region in the world.
5. one side there is afghanistan which we dont know untill now also who is in total control, infiltration of extremists through this region is easy i guess
6. Other side there is India which is percieved to be the sole enemy of pakistan.

So my conclusion is that this is not easy for pakistan as it was for lanka...

shut down US embassy and get rid of every operative of theirs. Much of the problem will be solved then and there.

No one in the leadership views them as strategic assets against India or Afghanistan, which is why these terrorist organizations have been banned. However, there are local Pakistani groups that help the LeT & other groups. The main problem is not these local groups, but groups like the LeT. Once the LeT & other "international groups" engaged in Afghanistan on Pakistani soil can be tackled properly, it will be much easier to deal with the local Punjabi Taliban.

Depends on what leadership you are talking about. If you say political leadership it can be true, but doubts arise over the military establishment the main force fighting them. And you said you need to act on Afghanistan based anti pakistan groups, as long as you take this approach there will be no end to this. The US will always say this is your homegrown problem. First take control of all your area bordering pakistan (N Wazristan included) and secure and safe the borders. After that any only any complain by Pakistan on Afghanistan based groups become legitimate till then no one will heed this.

only yesterday news said that PA expels US military trainers and kaboom today.
tit for tat?

Taimi khan did you report this after hearing loud sound or did you report by watching in TV?

Did you hear the blast at all?

The place of the blast is hardly 500 meters away from my home. i was doing walk in my colony, suddenly a loud bang and came back to my home and saw smoke and fire from my home's terrace.

So, i came to know before the TV guys did.

it is more than a surprise or say shock to see that even now some Pakistanis think that their fellow countrymen can't do wrong to their nation. everything wrong in pakistan is due to foreign involvements. wake up before it's too late

the lure of money. US citizenship and power is too much to resist for many.
unless this source of lure is cut off . more and more pakistanis will fall into the trap. both as tools and victims.
