How do we know who is truly professional, having an immaculate character and career, and no political ambition?
Whoever next coas will be, will remain controversial if appointed by zaradari and Nawaz system.
Best if next chief comes from PAF or Navy and called CHIEF OF ARMED FORCES. There is more likelihood he will NOT be political and he won't have that unbridled power where he can start doing dirty puppeteering that Bajwa has done and broken the trust between Awam and Army.
Rebuilding trust between Awam and Army is paramount.

Ayub was a dictator, now as the so-called constitution of Pakistan provides a clause to deal with such a situation
Yes, but the point is that before martial law, he was appointed as C-in-C because he was the senior most. Thus being senior most doesn't guarantee professionalism.

Why not IK? Didn't he want to keep Fiaz Hameed as DG ISI when he had been posted out, despite being a serving officer?

Do you think our PMs are educated/interested to understand or comprehend reports, qualifications, gradings, ACRs, courses attended, appointments held, operations led? The answer is NO.
Moreover they don't have anything to do with it, they just want to appoint someone who can be influenced. Thus appointing the weakest contender, who in order to prove himself capable starts interfering in politics etc.

News media and PDM were against General Faiz. Do we know anything about him? Is he also compromised like Bajwa?

IMO, whoever qualifies for promotions at such a senior level must not be unprofessional unless there are some serious flaws in the armed services selection/promotional procedures/system.

They are scared of him and what he will do to them ...
So the message Army as a institution is sending to the people of Pakistan is that majority generals are compromised. If anyone can share more info on why General Faiz is disliked by PDM and if he is loyal to the state and not COAS.

It's a lot bigger than being portrayed

If you know , share.

This is not directed at you:

I am tired of this statement and mentality “don’t force us to open our mouth” . If anyone knows , share it. Pakistanis have a habit of making themselves important. What are they waiting for? Country to bankrupt

There is a system so competent authority will appoint army chief. Is there any other way? In martial law army chief keep appointing himself.

The problem is army chief is not answerable to any constitutional body and he/army has become super state making country and people go down.
As far as intelligence is concerned tell me one intelligent thing from army/army chief?
Current fiasco is the making of the institution and responsible cannot be touched because they are ABOVE LAW.

Why did Nawaz shareef select Gen Bajwa as COAS even though he had not commanded any formation in Pakistan's 20 years of war on terror. It doesn't take a military genius to grasp this basis concept. Why did our PM appoint such an officer as the chief who hasn't participated in war that has been going on for 20 years!
The only thing that NS in him was someone he could influence for his own political objectives.
Why did our civilian prime minister overlook the fact that there were other contenders who had spent their entire career in operational areas with exceptional achievements?

There are degrees to everything. The COAS will inevitably be leading the establishment. Thus a more professional and confident officer will refrain from indulging too much in politics than a weaker one who believes he has been chosen just because he was the least preferable on paper

Sir, who do we refer to when we mention the "Deep State"?
It's a conceptual construct of a collective personality that is enigmatic by definition. It has got many faces, which are used for deceptions and diversions, but one mindset...

That is the reason, I already quoted why politicians should not have any right to break the chain of promotion based on their personal liking/disliking. In the case of Pakistan, politicians do not have a proper education or proper IQ, are alleged/convicted criminals, and are very inclined to see thru the lens of their personal gains and no sincerity to Pakistan and its people.

Although only God knows the true intentions of a man and that how circumstances in future can change him, I would consider commanders who showed their mettle in combat leading troops to victory. There are a few who have not been promoted after proving their mettle (Brigadier Nisar, Lt Gen Tariq etc) while others were shaheed in combat (Maj Gen Iftikhar Janjua etc).

Brig Nisar - 25 Cav in 65 war and Changez force in 71 war
Lt Gen Tariq - FC in WOT
Maj Gen Iftikhar - 23 Div in 1971 war

If the powers / PDM, do manage to appoint a similar person to the current COAS, carrying forward the same mentality that is prevalent today, i.e. anti IK

And Then,

Elections are held at a later date, where IK is again elected in power, this time with a simple majority atleast, because of the popular support he has, riding on the inflation sentiment, etc

How will the two work together?

There is going to be friction and this time IK will NOT repeat his past mistakes.

Only ONE will remain, and who will that be?

Similar uncertain economic / social scenario is going to be repeated as being done today.

And then, MAYBE,

If not his favourite former ISI chief, he could be retired by then, MAYBE, IK loyalist from the junior ranks is promoted to become the next COAS, cutting short the duration of the then anti IK COAS?

It is not limited to personalities anymore, it's more about the course correct / visionary / revolutionary approach that will be required to move forward.
