Featured 10 soldiers martyred, 1militant killed and 3 apprehended when BLF attacked military check post in Balochistan's Kech district

I could count 32 in the picture which might cover a single frame only. Imagine a force of this size roaming in the mountains, along the ridgelines and valleys. Imagine the assault being coordinated between various cells using comm links (zero capability of signals intelligence to detect, identify the origin/destination of signals, and pass on that intelligence to kinetic elements). There is so much wrong here.

Heres an extract from a document that i had worked on back in spring of 2020....not the best but made an effort after studying the attacks and MO

looking at the recent video of BLF attack in Dasht i can see we made some changes to our SOP, which was missing in previous attacks but then militants are evolving their tactics too.

We lost 10 men in the attack in Dasht but it was not a walk in the park for militants either.....

In Military College of Signals, the first example of use of "Satellite" phone sets given to us was use of Thuraya sat-phones in Afghanistan, I am talking of early-to-mid 2000's. Of course at that time satellite-phone sets fascinated everyone. Later Signals Corps started eavesdropping on militants HF/UHF/VHF comms.

Talking of terrain and Change in Strategy etc, I noticed this rock was in direct line from the cameraman and the location of blast that hit military/FC? vehicle.

I know it's not possible to look at every rock in an area that's has rocks everywhere, but something may have stood out as odd about placement of this particular rock.

Point is, our personnel need to be trained to have a curious eye on surroundings. Long time back these criminals released a footage where many Pak military trucks were blasted as they crossed over culverts. There was a pattern that continued over many years. A keen mind could have put two plus two together to see a pattern.

Identify the patterns. My kid was taught to identify patterns as early as in KG. Credit card companies detect fraud by ID'ing patterns, and see if some transaction is outside of patterns. So ID both, the patterns being followed and the patterns NOT being followed.

So, this rock may be just a random rock,,,, or a deliberately placed rock to to help with targeting. Those who have access to more footages must see if it's a pattern.

Another possible pattern. Attack may start when maximum soldiers are exposed and in sight.
So instead of letting out, say, 3 soldiers/helpers out and exposed simultaneously, plan to have one person do the chores where he's exposed in open, while others keep a keen watch.

The heck our Rasool Allah told us this approach 1400+ years ago that in a war zone don't offer prayer simultaneously. Take turns.

This snap is just before these 3 personnel came under fire - in addition, they were in poor state of preparedness, if want to have early morning routines, take turns:

Also I wrote elsewhere about having some cheap motion detection placed at suitable distances.
Just hire few engineering interns to develop one.

Because they will become a target for the terrorists. Terrorists already attack and kill civillians for no proper reason, you think they will spare those that aid the LEAs or army in any way shape or form?

Those scumbags killed a kid who was just transporting water to the FC camp nearby his farm. Calling him an enemy of the state.

In my opinion, the best way to deal with these terrorists is shock and awe
Otherwise pure exposure, in the sense of publicising each and every drone strike, heli attack and when possible, firefight against the terrorists. Show it clear to anyone that thinks about becoming a future terrorist in Balochistan, that you wont last more than 24hrs, until the army finds you.

(p.s you werent being sarcastic in any way right? Dont do this to me again :()
This just validates the point that local government and federal government have made Baluchistan a militant issue and want LEAs to solve it. Bureaucrats don’t want to get involved. Locals don’t trust police.

MRAPs are needed for patrolling but static posts being attacked means massive firepower should be available to thwart attacks.
Is there any estimate for what kind of equipment these posts carry, from what i gather they do have a good amount of firepower at least visible from the imagess. Also seems like in this case they weren't able to use a lot of it given the amount of ammunition visible. @PanzerKiel Your thoughts? I know you're perhaps alluding to a tactical failure by the on-site commander or something along those lines, but would like to know your reasoning?

We need cost-effective local-terrain situational awareness sensor. I might have some ideas for it (might turn out nothing but let's see).

I have no expertise in Intelligence gathering, but technology seems to be most viable solution in my humble opinion (SIGINT and IMINT).

I remember an organization from Karachi building such a drone in Pakistan.

They could only show 9 bodies. Claimed 17 but showed 9.

Their snipers lack training and fired like 10 shots at a soldier none of which I believe hit.

No sniper from our side.

And again I believe the post was this which I identified back then.

They could only show 9 bodies. Claimed 17 but showed 9.

That they still do, Baloch 20 was over Turbat during the latest series of ops..

Came across another footage
With two rocks used to mark the spot, probably to help the person who was going to detonate it remotely.
My point is again the same, someone should consider if it could be made part of the briefing or base training of those who are going to be deployed in risky landscape.

Identify the patterns and adapt accordingly.

And I talked in previous post about the pattern of using culverts,
Here's an IED planted either under a culvert of at it's mouth

Identify these patterns and train personnel accordingly.

that is exactlywhy route BD is done but apparently thats not enough. key is not in the defensive passive measures, MRAP bla bla bla, key is aggressive spirit and going after the terrorists in mountains or their homes....or in universities and media or in courts. till the time we do that this ll keep on happening... shields cant defend for long, armr can still be pierced, we got to ve sharp swords.

The point is - QRF should come into action as soon as an attack is reported on a post. Whether that post can stand an attack for hours or days is immaterial. QRF responds, brings in firepower and reinforcements, cuts of enemy retreat. That is the basic model.

QRF response time should improve with every mission it undertakes.

For this purpose, QRF should have a beeline to ground zero, not a bumpy , IED ridden ride through the treacherous mountains...
Most importantly, what was such an isolated post doing in the middle of nowhere?? A mere handful of soldiers can't really go on the offensive from there, instead would just be watching there backs all the time.
