Pakistan on Wednesday successfully conducted flight of its first locally-manufactured two-seater helicopter.

Three engineers from Rawalpindi Mujibur Rehman, Rehan Janjua and Shakir Ayub, designed the helicopter capable of flying at the height of 17,000 feet with a top speed of 190 kph.

Private sector engineers plan to go for serial production of the helicopter. “We plan to develop the helicopter for ambulance and security operations”, said Mujibur Rehman Khan, a retired air force officer.

“Traditional helicopters have a stick-to-head, a mechanical system, so when the pilot moves the stick a mechanical system moves the push-pull rods on the rotor system.

“We have a fly-by-wire system, where the control of the pilot goes into the electronics of the aircraft and then ultimately moves the swash plate or the control rod servos. It's like driving a car with a joystick rather than a steering wheel.”

The helicopter has been built at the cost of nine million rupees. “We have a plan to build 80 helicopters, which we intend to sell to public sector forces,” he added.

A really good news!:yahoo: finally they are making some home made copters as we need them desperatly in both civilian and militry areas. Can you provide any link or video of test flight?

My bad didn't see the link at the end of the post!

Although i didn't watch news about it on any national channel...maybe i've missed it!

Private sector! no govt support......... f****ing govt!!!!

They should support the private sector... if we can build a 2 seater heli then surely a heavy lift chopper aint a big problem!

Also wat do u think will be the use of such a heli?recon missions?>? something like lama heli???

The guy who posted the news deserves THANKS!!

a news is always more intersting with picutres... where are the pictures of the heli?

When pictures are avaible please post them asap.

All I want to know is can we turn this Helicopter into a Gunship?

I saw this on Sama TV lately, the Chopper looked good, I mean it was a prototype but indigenously made Mash'ALLAH :)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday successfully conducted flight of its first locally-manufactured two-seater helicopter.
Three engineers from Rawalpindi Mujibur Rehman, Rehan Janjua and Shakir Ayub, designed the helicopter capable of flying at the height of 17,000 feet with a top speed of 190 kph.

Paf retired personal is involve in this project and im sure it would be a good machine.

It's just a first step in this field for the private sector. GOP have to encourage them, there is a long way to go before we achieve a good result. An important step could be to joint venture with chinese firms in this field maybe by participating in programs like Z-9 heli.

Even if we have just enter in this field but i would say: Better late then never!:agree:

It is not a Helicopter but a Gyrocopter. Good effort but has no real practical value as it cannot really hover or carry any serious payload.
