What's new

Sweden joins to British next-generation fighter programme

just shows

UK has the Typhoon which is a top tier fighter

now is getting the F35B and yet they still move onto 6th generation

The General Electric lighting and Harrier are without a question the best British engineering ever got, maybe even the world

there would be no F35B without the harrier even the Soviets never mastered the VTOL

the harrier is an excellent jet. the USMC would testify to it

It seems due to defects in f35 europeans are now starting their own 5gen jets so it will badly affect u.s f35 market in europe

1. Defects? F-35 is not a faulty product line (bad press notwithstanding). F-35A, F-35B and F-35C are the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world, and will be the mainstay/workhorse of USAF, USN and JASDF in the foreseeable future.

F-35 represent the world's first and foremost attempt at merger of multi-role warfighting requirements with VLO sciences. There were significant engineering challenges to overcome in the process, therefore, so much time, energy and funds pumped into it.

2. F-35 won't stop European states from developing their own fighter aircraft because F-35 is an American product in the end.

European states have always been interested in domestic productions and solutions.

Why was it poor? Americans used Yak-141 to create F-35.
This is not true: https://www.quora.com/Is-it-true-that-the-American-F-35-copied-Soviet-Yak-141
