Simsek target drone mounted on Anka Drone
Turkish defense giant TAI has recently revealed that it has converted its Target Simulation Drone (TSD) Simsek into a kamikaze drone just like Israeli Harop IAI Harpy 2.
Simsek is Turbo Jet Target Simulation Drone built by TAI. Simsek has top speed of 400 knots (760 km/h) and range of 200 Km. Simsek is modified by TAI to turn it into a kamikaze drone.
It can carry up to 5kg of explosive material, enough to destroy lightly protected targets. Indeed, it is not enough to be effective against armored vehicles but still be able to inflict heavy damages.

The best part is that it can be mounted on Turkish Anka drone. Thus, giving more range and flexibility. Having more than adequate experience in drone technology, it is not too far away to see Simsek in a dedicated “Loitering Munition” role. For now, it lacks AI/ML algorithms for complete autonomous target acquisition but as mentioned earlier that it is not too far nor too challenging for TAI.
Apart from being Kamikaze these drones can be used as decoys to confuse enemy air defense systems. Simsek can be equipped Luneburg lens to emit radiation of a fighter jet to confuse enemy. They are best suited to saturate enemy air defense capacity by mimicking RCS of a dedicated fighter. US X-58 Valkyrie is also able to perform this role but with considerable higher range and avionics to supplement F-22 and F-35 and new F-15EX of United Stated Air Force.
PAC in exhibition at Dubai Airshow 2019 also showed a project of high speed target which is underdevelopment in collaboration with Aviation Innovation Research and Development (AvIRD). This a big step forward.

Currently Pakistan uses variety of indigenously developed or acquired target drones which can be upgraded into dedicated kamikaze drones.
Pakistan’s list of target drones include:
Out of above-mentioned drones, the best suited drones to be converted into Kamikaze are Tornado and Nishan Mk-2 built by Integrated Dynamics, a Pakistani UAV manufacturer.
Tornado has top speed of 300 knots and range of over 300 km. It can emit false radiation to confuse enemy radars thus saturating enemy air defense systems.
Nishant Mk-2 is also a good choice but lacks in range i.e. 35km but if being dropped from a drone or other airborne platform it still can do the job as it has 35 mins of endurance.
Conclusion:
The conversion of “Target Drone” into Kamikaze drone is an efficient way to save precious resources. These conversions can become footprints for more complex loitering systems and munition technology.

JF-17 is a light weight fighter compare to F-16 which is a medium weight.
Its like replacing Type 54A frigate with F22p Corvette. They are both powerful but one with less power, range, weapons. Turkey needs to replace F16 with a 5th generation fighter jet.

Turkish defense and government officials have held periodic talks with Pakistani counterparts -- the last high-level discussion was in January -- about developing and manufacturing military hardware with Pakistan, according to people from both countries who are familiar with the negotiations. The people didn’t say when they’ll meet again or how close they are to an agreement.
A deal would get NATO-member Turkey closer to some of China’s military technology. Pakistan builds its JF-17 fighter jets with China and is said to have adapted Chinese designs for its Shaheen ballistic missile.

Asked about restrictions imposed on weapons exports, China’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that the Chinese government “has always adopted a prudent and responsible attitude in the export of military products and strictly implements China’s military export management laws and regulations as well as its international duties.”

KARACHI: The ground-breaking ceremony for the fourth MILGEM Ada class corvette made by Turkey for Pakistan was held in the southern port city of Karachi on Tuesday.
The ceremony at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works -- Pakistan Navy's specialized shipbuilding division -- was attended by Pakistan Navy chief Adm. Amjad Khan Niazi, Esad Akgun, the chief executive officer of Turkey's state-run defense firm Asfat, and other senior officials from both sides.
In July 2018, the Pakistan Navy signed a contract for the acquisition of four MILGEM-class ships with Asfat.
According to the plan, two corvettes will be built in Turkey and the next two will be built in Pakistan, which also involves technology transfer.
Addressing the ceremony, Niazi hailed Asfat for achieving this milestone despite the global impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
He praised the cooperation of the Pakistan Navy, Astaf, Karachi Shipyard, and the Defense Production Ministry for the construction of the fighter ships.
The navy chief also thanked Ankara for its assistance and cooperation in defense and security fields.
Niazi said that Tuesday's event is a defining moment to further cement the bond of friendship between the two strategically aligned nations with common shared values, culture, and principles.
These corvettes will be fitted with the state-of-art surface, sub-surface and anti-air weapons and sensors, integrated through an advanced network central combat management system.
"The induction of MILGEM Corvettes will significantly enhance maritime defense and deterrence capabilities of the Pakistan Navy. These corvettes will become a core element of PN's kinetic response to traditional and non-traditional challenges and to maintain balance of power in the Indian Ocean Region," said a statement from Pakistan Navy.
'Deep-rooted brotherhood'
Akgun, in his remarks, said that with the ground-breaking of the fourth corvette, the project is entering a phase of constructing all four ships at the same time.
Despite the setbacks of the pandemic, he said, Asfat is doing "everything humanly possible to keep the project in time and in budget."
Briefing on the ongoing MILGEM project, he said the production and installation of some 32 blocks on the slipway have been completed, both in Karachi and Istanbul.
Of these 32 blocks, he went on to say, 23 were produced and installed in Istanbul, while the remaining nine in Karachi.
Another 14 blocks have been produced in Turkey, and are ready to be installed, he added.
Some 38 blocks are under construction in Pakistan.
A total of 1,600 tons of steel, he further said, have been processed.
"With 19 shipments, more than 2,000 documents, 145 containers and almost 3,800 tons of material and equipment have been sent to Karachi," he said.
"Every event [like this] is another steel plate welded to our brotherhood roots," Akgun said.
State-of-the-art vessels
MILGEM vessels are 99 meters long with a displacement capacity of 24,00 tons and can move at a speed of 29 nautical miles.
MILGEM anti-submarine combat frigates, which can be hidden from the radar, will further enhance the defense capability of the Pakistan Navy.
In October 2019, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with the then Pakistan Navy Chief Adm. Zafar Mahmood Abbasi had cut the first metal plate of the first MILGEM Ada class corvette during a ceremony in Istanbul.
Turkey is one of the 10 countries in the world which can build, design, and maintain warships using its national capabilities.
