More jets in a squadrons has also to do with the serviceability rate of a squadron due to reduced MTBO (Mean Time Between Overhaul) of engines leading to requirement of overhauling....

To an air force, the number of squadrons is not the relevant consideration as much as the total aircraft available. A squadron of 16, if no additional aircraft are available for maintenance and attrition, is a different proposition from a squadron of 16 backed up by 8 to 10 additional aircraft.

Pakistan had, at times, had as many as 24 F-6s per squadron. But the aircraft had to undergo major overhauls after 600 hours of flying, and its engine had a Time Between Overhaul of 100 hours. Sometimes, PAF had less than 12 ready aircraft per squadron despite the availability of twice as many.
Hi,

Thanks for clearing that up for many a readers. They are more interested in units in a sqdrn rather than operable aircraft in a sqdrn---.

i am not in favour of such retro-placed canards. The engine is interesting. I had a look at it fairly recently.
That is interesting indeed however, you left the swift retort episode unfinished. :D

The one with some censors attached on wingtips you mentioned.

'sensors' !
all modern jets have 360 awareness thesedays eg fc1

Just like if u open up your mobile perhaps android, u will see a 'network manager' which connects and disconnects all your 181 wifi interfaces eg 5G with surrounding 'network managers'. So is the case with communications in airforces. Infact some of the communication devices are more simpler than your android device network manager.

Let me remind you what you said back then. Something to the lines if....
" The second aircraft targeted by the PAF had certain censors on wingtips".

SAP-518 is a jamming pod that protects individual a/c. Weren't the Indians inclined towards Israeli jammers rather than Russian ones.

See the list and then wonder how Pakistani media portrays Pakistani Military aligned with Americans instead and giving into demands from USA when the weapons as well as the line of credit comes from China.

-LY-80
-HQ-9
-Al Khalid-1 MBT
-VT-4 Haider MBT
-SH-15 SPH
-Type 054 Tughril Class Frigates
-Hangor Type 39 Attack Submarines
-CH-4B & Wing Loong UAVs
-Z-9 Helicopters

That is tri-services getting modern weapons but hey Pakistani Top brass is USA centric.

They will bend over to Americans no matter how much modern weapons they get.
These are spinesless leeches taking over every sector of Pakistan.
And when it will come to fight:
They will surrender

These Sepoys are outclassed by their strategic counterparts on every front. They have no one to blame but themselves

They used both. From what I can find, ELL-8222 was sometimes preferred because SAP-518 negatively affected the kinematics of the aircraft. But SAP-518 was more powerful and also newer.

Bending over to US has less to do with the weapons sourcing but to their retirement plans and adjusting their kids.

Additionally, it’s also a separation of responsibility issue. If you are the army, the diplomat, the policy maker and executive all in one then you can’t focus on your real job and there will be conflict of interest.
